Since Ive had a bad cold Ive stayed home from work and basically looked at diamonds all the time and the more I look the more Inotice about them. So I now have a question

One thing I noticed is that some diamonds i viewed had a very distinct star shape in the middle, like this diamond.

Is that a result of painting or digging or is it to do with angles? Or something completely different? Im not interested in this diamond, but curious about if I should stay away from diamonds with this starshape(theres probably some fancy word for it I don't know )
Do you have picture examples of diamonds that are dug or painted, where its visible?

Also, im noticing some diamonds have this color

And others of the same color have this

Is the difference in color as visible irl?

Really thankful in advance for your help :)

Anyone? :saint:

Weekends are usually quiet times on PS, hopefully, someone will come along to offer you advice soon.

I believe the differences in colour you are seeing would be determined by the photograph more than the actual diamond itself. Unless if all stones are being photographed in the exact same conditions, with the same camera, same settings, etc then there is potentially quite a bit of variance that can be introduced into the picture. Think about snapping photos and how they can vary from one shot to the next. Then you also have variation between viewing platforms (pc, tablet, phone, etc). Basically, trust a well graded colour over a photo.

In regards to your query, I believe you are describing the pattern formed by the star facets. From what I can see, it appears the steeper crown angles tend to build more of a border around them. I could be completely wrong in this assumption, but from viewing a several it appears to be a common link.

Thank you so much, thats exactly what I meant to write by " is it the angles", but my enlish is only so-so and putting that down in words made brain stop working so thats the best I could do haha, but to make sure I complpetely understand, by saying the angles are steeper, it means they become more acute? You know like acute angle obstuse angle, ( am I making any sense? )

Still really curious about a good paint/dig view, tried to see anything in the tuorial someone posted before, but I see nothing by just viewing the diamond without aset images...

And the color thing, thats good news, I really thought the color difference between a I going on H and an I going on J couldnt be THAT big!
CUse thats how the images looked to me, so I thought one had to be really close to J and the other really close H but still the color difference was so major that it seemed not realistic....thanks for clearing that up :)
