I''ve been looking at the Star129 videos on GOG''s site and I have to say that I''m very impressed. However, looking at the ''stats'' and the reports that accommodate each of the gems, I notice that they tend to be rated more frequently as only good on both symmetry and polish as opposed to excellent or ideal as compared to other modified cuts such as the Solesfera and Eighternity. One would think that symmetry would be outstanding on these, right? As a matter of fact, they don''t even list the additional ''optical symmetry'' line that the others show as excellent and or ideal.
Is there a reason for this? Is there something I should be aware of?

Also, I know because of the extra facets, these diamonds will look busier. But looking at images of the 129''s, there doesn''t seem to be any pattern whatsoever. Does it look this ''chaotic'' in real life or is this just a case of the camera not making a good representation?

Is the extra brilliance/scintillation of the 129''s enough to make me forget all of my above concerns?

extra facet cuts rarely get EX in sym. and polish.
The more facets the more meet points there are and the more directions to cut relative to the grain equals more chances for something not too be perfect.

What size are you looking at?
Iv seen a few of them and they were OK in 2ct plus but I didn''t like the crushed ice/busy look of the smaller ones.

Thanks for the reply, STRMRDR. I was looking for something in 1.25 to 1.5ct range. Are you saying that a pattern CAN be seen if the stone is big enough (2 ct or larger), that there is no such pattern with this cut or that the ''crushed ice'' look isn''t that bad on a bigger stone? Thanks again.

I haven''t seen the star129 diamonds in person, but I have seen other round stones that are cut with many more facets than a traditional round. Honestly, I don''t like them as much. The sparkles are smaller and yes, more chaotic. I prefer the broader sparkles of a traditional round.

If you''re interested in the smaller, more chaotic sparkle, but you still want to see a regular pattern of hearts and arrows, you might want to check out the Solasfera diamonds on GOG. I don''t know what they look like in person, but they look gorgeous in the videos and pictures!

not really a pattern just a bunch of small sparkles compared to a h&a RB.
In 2ct+ the sparkles are bigger so it don''t look as busy.
Id compare it too a princess or radiant more than a h&a RB.
