My dh saw a stainless steel and diamond bracelet that he really likes. I want to get him a nice gift for our 10 year anniversary, since I already got my Ritani ring! I went to look at the bracelet and saw that it was stainless steel which I''m not familiar with for jewelry. It is beautiful with small diamonds in it, and not too expensive. The jeweler said if it was in white gold it would be about $500 more than the S.S. one.

So, my question is... how durable/good is stainless steel for jewelry? Is it hard to keep clean and how would I clean it? Is it a new trend or something that has been around, but didn''t really take off?! I''d like to get something in stainless because the price is so good, but I don''t want to be disappointed later. Thanks so much! Jill

i find it wonderful for my watch as i can''t use white gold due to allergy. i hope this helps. banjo

Stainless steel jewelry has been very popular for many years...think David Yurman, Kieselstein-Cord, Charriol, Stephen Dweck, Lagos, John Hardy. (You can see most of these at neimanmarcus.com). I love the look of it with 18K and diamonds, like my Concorde Saratoga watch, which I have had for 10 years. If you wear it everyday, it maintains its look without polishing, although a soft cloth is all it takes to clean it up again.

I have a stainless steel bracelet w/18K gold accents, and I love it...wear it almost every day...it holds up, and it was not as expensive as gold....so I don''t stress about it!!!!
Have received some very nice comments.......

It scratches, but does not very dull and matte.

I have lots of stainless jewelry, mind you it''s all piercing jewelery but Ive had no problems, no reactions, no scratches really and it''s always clean cuz not much seems to stick to it.
