hi everyone,
I''m new to this forum and trying to learn all I can about square emeralds/asschers. My Fiance is planning to buy the ring at the end of this yr and I''m doing what I can to research and pick out a stone + setting (I think all this info is overwhelming for him and since I''m the super picky one, I''m doing all the research

) .

Right now, I have my eye on the canturi cubism band with bezel setting (many ppl don''t seem to love the bezel, afraid it might take away from the EC/asscher but I DO like the way it looks. I have small hands size 4 finger but I LOVE chunky jewelry with modern design).

As far as the diamond itself, on the square emerald I actually prefer larger table and less depth with smaller corners (like the HW square emerald). and I also love narrow steps (saw a beautiful one from another member on PS, believe it was vespagirl? sorry for any mispelling). I''m looking for 1.5-1.8 ct. Is the color difference noticeable between F and G color grade?

This diamond is hard to find! I''ve been casually browsing local jewelers and no one has square emeralds.. some haven''t even heard of asschers. they seem confused when I ask for an asscher cut. So far I''ve emailed Mark @ Engagementringsdirect.com... waiting for response. Can someone please tell me what specs (range) I should look for if I like the larger table, less depth and smaller corners?

TIA!

I think this is a nice stone although the table is large. GOG seems to have the best selection of asschers although not all are on the website.

I have an H asscher and in some light I can see a hint of warmth.

Not my favorite but gog should be able to get something better.

What about this one doesn''t do it for you? I am curious about this one because it looks like there aren''t any dark zones and decent steps.

strm - what do you think of the 1.99 GOG has on their site?

hi strmrdr: also curious to hear your input on that diamond.

I have not been able to physically view square EC/asschers in person..... online they all look good to me! I''m afraid I don''t know exactly what to look for.

I DO know... I like more square cut (instead of the octagonal shape).. and I like looking at the clean narrow steps. I''ve heard the HW square emeralds tend to have larger tables and less depth (larger face-up). I saw a picture of harlowqueens HW and it looks lovely - but what are the specs? Can someone suggest a range to follow (given that I do like the larger tables...etc). Thanks!

its ok for a large tabled asscher but while some people love them most will prefer smaller tables.

In general 65 and under for the table and under 70% depth unless the table is very small and the crown very high. Square as possible.
From there get pics.

Just had a look on the Canturi website, and the cubism band is gorgeous, I actually saw something similar to it recently on someone who came through work, her husband had it made with a princess in claw setting, very sparkly. I think it would look great with all step cuts. I''m a bezel girl, my bf picked mine up today so I could check it before the set the stone.... can''t wait to see it!!

Hi Kmci, congratulations! hope u will post pics of your ring! I really like the bezel look too, cant wait to see yours!

anyone have experience buying diamonds thru CANTURI? (www.canturi.com)

Are their prices competitive?

I''ve been in touch with them and they located 2 asscher cut diamonds thru their buyer in Sydney.

their prices seem reasonable but I''m new at this.... and not sure to buy the center diamond thru them or thru an online source.

I''m waiting for them to send me detailed specs/pictures.
