Do you have any ideas for how to spread a little Christmas cheer in your neighborhood? America has been struggling lately, so now feels like the time to go just a little above and beyond in trying to reach out to people and bring a little joy. This is my idea.....

This year I'm doing something different for my neighborhood. In previous years, I've baked and / or delivered cards to my neighbors. But, let's be honest, none of us reeeeally need it.

So, this year, late at night on Christmas eve, I'll be sneaking onto the front porches of the homes of all our local dogs, whose names I've learned over the year - mostly while out walking during these covid times! - and dropping them off a treat, a toy, and a little gift tag with their name on it, wishing them a happy, yappy Christmas!

Fun, right? My own puppers will be getting toys and treats and lots of cuddles, so I decided to include all my FAVORITE people in the neighborhood! They just all happen to have paws, not feet - but I figure they can celebrate the birth of Christ as well as any of us! WOOF!

Would anyone like to share any ideas they have for revving up the Christmas cheer after what was a collectively hideous year? SHARE YOUR IDEAS HERE!

As a dog lover and owner of 3, I love this @mrs-b!

Thanks @eapj and @springerspaniel! I love dogs - so this will be a pleasure.

But - does anyone else have any Christmas-cheer-spreading ideas?

We "adopted" three elderly people that are wards of the state for the holiday. They receive $35 monthly and that is supposed to cover all expenses and entertainment, other than room and board, plus medical. $35 doesn't go far, obviously. We got a wish list from each and hopefully, they will enjoy what they received.

That is AWESOME, @elizat! Great job! I'm sure you'll be spreading some real Christmas cheer, come Christmas day!

I bake bread for my favorite neighbors.
They really appreciate it.

I don't celebrate holidays, but I bake gift-bread any of the year's 365 days.
I think Christmas is one of those days.

Dear @mrs-b, I love your generosity of spirit and enthusiasm for life in general and the holidays specifically. Your excitement is contagious and your kind and warm nature is heartwarming and exudes the holiday spirit.

This has been a challenging year for everyone and I express my thanks (whenever I am out among people which isn't often these days obviously) always and it is heartfelt so I hope that small gesture is spreading some cheer wherever I go.

We really aren't doing much this year besides what we normally do which is give as much as we can to our local animal rescues (in NJ and NYC). And in years past (for decades) we used to bake cookies for all our friends and neighbors. This year we don't have the energy but if we figure out another way to spread cheer I will add here.

Thanks for embodying all that is good and kind and generous and loving. This is what the holidays truly are all about. XOXO.

And that's perfect. :))

This is the second year that I have given a gift to our local elderly that still live at home and have the community nurses and carers visit them.
I have the food goodies and tomorrow I will get a puzzle book and a hand cream or bubble bath.
I live in Guernsey, Channel Islands and we are extremely lucky to only have one case of COVID and no restrictions to our day to day life. Well the only restriction is if you return to the island you have to self isolate and if you breach the regulations you will be fined up to GBP10,000 so that is quite the deterrent!

I’m going to bring the herd to the seniors residence where I work, they’ve been asking to meet them.
Other than that, they love my baking so I think I’ll make snickerdoodles. :kiss2:
