Spray-on/drip dry chandelier cleaner

I'd try doing a final rinse in distilled water.

Water spots are not from the water, they are from minerals IN the water.
The H20 in the water evaporates, but minerals don't.

Distilled water ain't free so to use less I keep some in a spray bottle.
After washing and rinsing the object I give it a generous spray of the distilled water.
This replaces the tap water (and its minerals) with pure H20.

Do a test on two identical pieces.
But don't dry them with a cloth.
Let them both air dry.
Then compare.

This ain't a bad idea for giving your diamonds a final rinse.

I will have to try that on diamonds. Minerals in water can be very hard indeed!

@mrs-b, I am rather OCD about cleaning. I clean everything often! If you are comfortable living with a reasonable amount of dust, you are not only normal but fortunate! My husband always tells me that no one comes through with white gloves to check but I don't care what anyone else thinks. It is my own compulsion that drives me and that is not always a good thing!

I'm OCD about all sorts of things cleaning related: bathrooms, glass table tops, everything to do with windows and flyscreens - both in and out. I clean my outdoor furniture like nobody's business, and I steam clean my carpets every 3 months at *least*. But the tops of fan blades? No. They fall into the 'light fittings' category, and I can neither reach them, nor have the heart to thrust my husband into this hideous job! So your chandelier, to me, is a thing of extreme beauty!! I wish I could say I washed my light fittings regularly.... I don't. Twice a year - at best! Right up there with cleaning out the linen cupboard (major pain!) and de-molding the washing machine.

I dont suppose I could interest you in a trip to Massachusetts, could I? No. I figured not.

There is always something in the house that needs cleaning. Even if you clean every nook and cranny it just gets dirty again and time to start all over. Sad but true. My mother was a cleaner but she cleaned the house, then lived in it awhile before tackling it again. I realized one day that it was my father's sisters who were forever cleaning. I take after them in many ways and apparently the cleaning thing is in my blood - ha!!

I ended up taking off all the garland and hanging crystals and washing them myself. I used an alcohol and water rinse before drying them off. I found a chandelier shop that will take apart and clean the fixture itself for $75 which I think is a good price. The center crystal column that the wiring goes through is dirty on the inside, and I'm not willing to take it apart myself to get that clean. Same with the bobeches. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Here's a tip to clean fan blades. Take an old pillowcase and slip it on the blade. The dust falls in the pillowcase and not on your face!

Seriously, you are my domestic goddess.

I've been thinking for MONTHS that I need to get up and clean all the fan blades throughout the house. Need - extreme. Motivation - moderate. Forward progress - nil.

@mrs-b I think you have enough going on right now. I would just take care of you and everything thst needs to be cleaned can be done later. My husband is at the house in Pa. He‘s cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming there. I told him if he didn’t clean the toilets they were going to look like gas station bathrooms. I will get all the toilets out and get new to celebrate the end of Covid-19. I shudder to think what the chandelier will look like when I finally get home. In the scheme of it all it doesn’t matter. I hope you are doing better..XO

@MamaBee (it's going to take me a while to get used to that!!) - you might be right on this. I feel a tad out of control with all my medical stuff, y'know? So being able to clean my house gives me a sense of order, which kind of helps. Tho I have to say, me climbing ladders at the moment is *begging* for trouble! I've got a bunch of dizziness, so Mrs-B up a step ladder is...not a great idea.... :- /
