Well, I have two concerns:

First, I love my split shank e-ring. It was made by GOG. I have one issue with it that I thought wouldn''t bother me but it kinda does. The spacing between the splits in the shanks on either side of the ring are slighly different. Although most people tell me they don''t even notice, it is totally obvious to me. Is it worth it to get it fixed? The shanks have pave on them and I imagine the whole side would have to be redone. GOG is a few hrs from where I live and it is a pain to get there. My fiance says he doesn''t notice so its up to me if I want to get it altered (and he says he''s not going to go with me). My friend does want to go to GOG so I would have a buddy. What should I do? Do you think GOG would charge for having this alteration done considering I have had the ring for 9 months already?

Second question, I picked out a wedding band from a different jeweler in NJ which has carving all the way around and diamonds that are set in the band (sorry i dont know the lingo to describe correctly). The ring is only made in WG and I wanted Plat so he said he would make a model of it and cast it in plat (he actually didnt do it. he sent it out). I used the ring sizers and everything to make sure the size was right but when it came in a few weeks ago it was totally too big. In my opinion, the jeweler didn''t size the ring he just made a straight copy because I wanted a 6.5 and the one it was cast from was a 6.75. He said he can put beads of platinum on the inside to make it fit better. Has anyone had this done to their ring? Do you like it? Also, if it turns out I don''t like it what can be done to size it since there is carving all around? I just want to know what I''m talking about if I go back there and want it to be resized.

Thanks!!!!

Hi splitshank. are there pics anywhere around here of your ring? i would love to see it. I for one am very picky so the differences in gap sizes would bug me. I''d talk to GOG and see about fixing it if they can. I have no idea how much they''d charge if anything to do it. plus, if you have a buddy to make the trip with it could be a fun field trip.

as for the wedding band, there a few people here that i''ve heard have sizing beads. some don''t like them, others aren''t bothered by them. i believe you can have them removed easily if you got them and found them to be too uncomfortable. type in sising beads and some threads will pop up.

Here''s the link to pics of my ring. They really don''t show the sides well at all (I guess I sorta was trying to hide it also). On the pics from GOG (which i dont have cause my fiance deleted them) you can see how obvious the difference is. Grrr I wish my fiance had got it fixed before I even got it. Ill have to try to get other pics.

Ehh, I can''t decide what to do. What is funny is the difference is more noticeable when the ring is super clean. I guess the sparkliness makes it obvious.

yeah, you can''t really tell in the photos. seriously, if it is bothering you, tell GOG and let them see it and see what they can do. They are nice folks over there and would want you to be happy with your ring. if there is anything they can do, i''m sure they would be glad to. you shouldn''t have to just live with it.

I couldn''t tell in photos either. But if it bothers you, it''s worth it to look into getting it fixed. I can''t say whether GOG would charge for this, not having worked with them.

For the wband, you might consider getting a horseshoe sizer...less obtrusive than beads. Here''s the link to Jazmine''s ring after she had it done. Linky

I am very particular about things like this. I would definitely have GOG fix it because if you are like me, it will be something that will always bother you. It seems like there should be no charge unless it''s something you caused which seems unlikely. I don''t know about the sizing beads and the other ring.

If the wedding ring does not measure a proper 6.5, I would make them redo it, definitely. If the error was my own, that would be one thing, but if he agreed to make a 6.5 and presented you with a 6.75 then I would not accept piecemeal fixes to rectify the error in the manner easiest for HIM. The ring will still not sit as flush with your fingers as it should, even if the beads make the inside fit better. It bothers me when rings are too bulky, but maybe that is just me.

The good news is, you have a drop dead gorgeous ering. I hope everything works out!

I agree with everyone. If it bothers you, you need to have them fix it. My e-ring came in 1/4 size too large. I didn''t notice it for at least 6 months since I got it in the summer. I am having them put sizing beads in after the wedding.
