So, I have been reading a lot on the board about Spinel gems and I do have to say I am quite impressed by the beauty of this stone. I have found one I may just be forced to purchase. Ok, ok, so its not red, but look at that BLUE.

Its totally unique and the cut seems to be pretty decent - am I correct in assuming these things? If anyone wants to let me know what they think, I would enjoy the feedback.

I''m not sure that it''s "totally unique" (unless it''s cobalt-bearing). But the cut is alright and the stone does not appear to have that dreaded grey secondary.

ok, well, the color is totally unique to me.

I really like the color. Nice steel blue.

From a cutting standpoint, it is obviously native cut. Not bad but some of the meets are off and it appears to have a bit of a window. Thats unfortunately all too common in native cut stones. They don''t pay attention to critical angle and, even though the rest of the stone looks great, they cut the bottom facets too shallow and, wham! Window city.

I really like the stone. I think you would do well to get it as long as it only costs an arm, not the leg, too.

Thanks Revolution!

The stone cost $186 USD total - I didn''t think that was too bad, but alas, I decided to save my hard earned cash towards my ideal light blue sapphire.

Thank you for your imput!!

Have a great day

I love the color! Can you be persuaded to post pictures when you get it?

I''m looking at the spinel on a different monitor now. Jeff is right. It is steely. While colour preferences are subjective, I''m glad you''ve decided to pass on this one.

Did you find this online, may I ask? Can you point me there? I''m always looking to bookmark a new gem source site

Actually, I grabbed the site off of PS! Heres the link to that particular spinel:
