What can you tell me about spin beads (I think I have that right)? My rings fit decently when my hands are warm, which isn''t often. When I am cold, usually at work, they spin and spin. In fact, they are loose enough to come off my finger with a slight pull. I don''t want it to be too tight, but I don''t want to lose it either. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your rings might be a shade too big. You say they fit decently, but not great. At least that is what I am hearing you say.

I bought a Tacori wedding set out of the case which was a size 6.5. I needed a 5, and the rings could only be sized down to a 5.5 due to the crescent design so they put sizing beads in the rings. I was afraid that they might be uncomfortable, but I don''t even feel them. I have read that sizing beads are good for people with big knuckles, which is what I have too. So I am happy with them.

My new RHR is very top heavy and yours might be too. It sounds like your ring fits properly as sized but keeps spinning when your hands are cold, correct? This is b/c your ring is top heavy and no amount of additional ring sizing is going to help matters. What you need are sizing beads, or as you call them "spin beads". They are soldered into a perfectly sized ring in order to stop the ring from spinning around your finger. Now, they will make it slightly harder to put the ring on and take it off. But if you turn the ring while you are removing it, it will come off easily without having to tug at it.

I agree with neverendingupgrade. A proper fit is when the ring is *slightly tight* when your hand is warm like during the summer months and *slightly loose* (but won''t fall off) when your hands are cold. I would re-size a quarter to a half size smaller and then see whether you still have the spinning problem. If you still have the spinning problem at that point then you can think about beads or horseshoe sizers.

Thanks for all the advice.

Unfortunately, I can''t resize these rings. The bands that I was engaged and married with were sized down. The setting stretched and the diamonds in the bands started falling out. I had the rings recast in my size (4.75) and the diamonds reset.

Right now, my fingers are nice and warm. The ring moves easily up to the knuckle, but not over (huge knuckles in my opinion), when I move it. It doesn''t move by itself, is not spinning, and won''t come off unless I pull.

I''m actually afraid it will be too tight if I get the beads. Sigh.....
