Hey all,
My friend is interested in a stone with the following specs:

1.35 RB, G, VS2, AGS

Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Table: 56.9%
Crown Angle: 33.2
Pavilion Angle: 40.9
Star Length: 49%
Lower Girdle Length: 77%
Total Depth: 60.2%
Culet: Pointed

HCA Score 0.8-ex, ex-ex-ex-ex

Everything seems perfect. My only concern is the Crown Angle of 33.2, seems a little short of 34.
Any thought on this? Would this one be a super light performer?

Thanks for any comment/thoughts :)

sounds fine.

sounds fine.
Ditto - no worries! There are various crown and pavilion combos which can work well together, this is likely one of them.

Whats the girdle rated at?

Thanks for the reply!!!

Info on Girdle:
Girdle: Faceted, 1.3% to 3.8% (I believe it''s THIN to MEDIUM according to AGS)

Please see the attached pic of the stone, doesn''t seem too symmetrical does it?
Shouldn''t an AGS 3-ID stone look more pretty/symmetrical than that?

Is it a good idea to use the stone picture to judge the symmetry & cut?

He''s still working on getting the Idealscope image...

Thank again~

girdle is fine.
It is near h&a
AGS doesn''t measure optical symmetry.

Thanks Strmrdr!
Wouldn''t optical symmetry affect light performance big time? or not necessary?
This might sound silly, but would a H&A stone out-perform a non-H&A stone (assuming all the specs are the same)?

To many variables to make a blanket statement and the research is very thin.
My thoughts are that in a lot of cases there isn''t a visible difference between excellent face up symmetry like this one and h&a.
There may be a technical one but angles play a far more important part.
In other cases there may be a difference some angle combos need it more than others.
That is just my opinion not fact as no one can say for sure.

Looks good!

I just found an old post on H&A which is very informative:)

Gotta love PS, every question you have, it has the answer!
