I give him a list of items that he can then choose from. I also remind him of my b-day, anniversary, and any other holiday that I want to recieve a gift. I drop hints like...Wow, my birthday is getting pretty close, next Thursday....Have you thought about my present?
I know some people would totally disagree with this method but I have found it works wonderfully for both of us. I''m never dissapointed on my special days and he can walk away feeling good about himself.
We started this "exchange" after our first wedding anniversary when he gave me a card full of cash so that I could go buy myself a gift. LOL! Also I noticed that his father ALWAYS forgets to buy my MIL gifts.
