I have never owned a diamond before and my engagement ring is my first. I hear people always talk about sparkle. Now I know my diamond is not the best cut because of the appraisal, but I think it still sparkles. Well it sparkles most of the time but just not in certain lighting, but in some lighting it sparkles like crazy. Is this the case with all diamonds or do diamonds that have better cuts (very good or excellent) sparkle in all lighting?

Don''t get me wrong I love my diamond! Expecially when I heard my fiance did not have to pay for it; his mother gave it to him. But I am just curious. If some one could enlighten me about sparkle and different lighting and different cuts that would be awesome!

Thank you in advance!

I think every diamond has a personality (even frozen spit lol). My stones in my T&Co Atlas ring sparkle most of the time, but there are some light circumstances that there is no fire or flashes of bright light.

I have an excellent cut round, and it doesn''t sparkle under all lighting either. Under some house lamps and some fluorescent lighting (it depends though, as some fluorescent lighting makes it look insanely beautiful) it doesn''t sparkle.

Interesting question. I think everyone''s idea of "sparkle" may be a little different... I have noticed that some people refer to the "scint" of a diamond as "sparkle", others the "fire". When I think of sparkle, I think of all the aspects of my diamond that give it movement and "life". I have an AGS-0 2.36 RB and I love the bright white light, and the scintillation, AND I especially adore the fire and dispersion I get under certain lighting situations.

But, my personal least favorite lighting environment is bright noon-day sun; there are HUGE, broad flashes of fire, which are quite stunning, but the body of my diamond goes dark, and I don''t especially love that.

My MOST favorite lighting environment is filtered light... ohmyword, even after all these years, that awesome rainbow dispersion still makes me *swoon*!
