Hi everyone,

Looking for some guidance. I purchased a pave e-ring for my fiance similar to the one below:

Now we are looking at options for wedding bands and I am trying to figure out if a spacer would be needed to protect the rings.

Would we need a spacer if we got this pave band?

How about if we got this channel set band?

I personally don't like the channel set band with that ring. I think the matching one would be better and yes I would do a spacer. You can get them off Etsy for around $200 in PLAT. I know several of us (including myself) have gone with June Designs.

The issue isn't so much the pave but how the struts on your ering (what hold the diamond in place). They would probably bang up against the wedding band. I had something very similar with my first ering set.

If you don't want to do a spacer you could always sauter (sp?) the rings together, but most people on this board don't do that as we switch up our sets, add in stackers etc.

If you plan to wear your Ering forever then yes, I would get a space so the melees on your Wband won't eat way at it. I personally don't like the look of a spacer so I made my shank into a V shank. The rings don't rotate on my finger which slows down the deterioration process. I sacrificed the outer setting for the look of the overall set. :rodent:

What's more important to you? Beauty or having a structurally sound set?

For me, the most important thing is to ensure the rings don't damage each other. I'm sure my fiancee cares more about how the set looks together :)

Can you ask your fiancé what she would prefer? Nobody knows her like she does!

Personally, I made two impractical decision on my setting and I can't be happier with my choice. I eternity paved the donut and the entire band of my Ering. My man and I agreed that we don't give a shiet about the setting. It's to be worn and enjoyed, not to be worshipped on a pedestal. :halo:

I have the same setting and pair it with a 3/4 eternity and I wear a spacer between the two rings. Last week I purchased a new RG 1.5mm spacer and when I wear the three rings together you almost can't even see the spacer band, the color blends in quite well with my skin tone. I also purchased a WG and YG spacer to switch them up and think it's fun to have lots of options now. :))

Pics!! Cough 'em up!!

No pics yet, but I will try to get some tomorrow and post them. It's been a lot of fun switching things up a bit! I was going to email you Yssie but I felt that I had bothered you quite enough, I didn't want to take advantage of your generosity! :))

Sorry for the thread jack OP!! :appl:

Sorry for a dumb question but is a spacer just a plain band you wear in between the other two rings? For relevance to OP am considering a similar style for an e/ring upgrade :)

I have a 1.5mm knife edge white gold spacer from James Allen. It counts as another wedding band so you still get 10% off the price.

On a side note, I was surprised at how well spacers actually work, I wore my set all through my hols and have got a .5mm tan line between the spacer and engagement ring. You can't see that gap when wearing the set so it was cool to see that it's really doing its job!

A spacer is typically a VERY thin band worn between rings. Most rings are around 2mm. A spacer is usually .8mm, 1mm or 1.5mm. It protects the wedding band and ering from rubbing against one another. Here is a picture of my old set for reference with a 1mm spacer.
