Hi there this is my very first posting on Pricescope! Kinda excited:)

I had just purchased a pair of GIA certified RB earring and a RB solitaire ring, its with additional laser inscription. S.A (which mean originated from south africa). I was being told that it is of a better cut grade. Is that true? can I know if the 3 diamonds are of good quality? If not I shall probably consider an exchange. The specs are as follow:

Numbers look good for the e-ring. Enjoy. :)

But the 2nd earring stud is a little steep in the pavilion. Not sure if the large lower facet can reduce leakage, but at that size probably not noticeable in real life.

Hi tks for the reply! I am contemplating if to set the 3 stones together into a ring with a delicate halo round the bigger centre piece:) Or to upgrade to a .50 pair of earring with better specs. What do you think? O ya, the pair of earring have bruted girdle and a thin white line can be seen at close. I am quite bothered by it..

yap, the thin white line is the bruted girdle. If you don''t like that look for faceted girdle.

You could easily drop the colors and clarity to H/I VS2/SI1 range, as long as eye-clean, for the ear-rings and still look great and probably get a near 0.5c pair of stone. It is the cut that makes a stone sparkle and not the color/clarity.

Just change the stone if you can if you are bothered by the girdle, this page explains further on girdles.

Hi thanks for the reply! Yes you both of you are right. I had requested for an exchange and they are helping me to look out for another pair of earring 0.35-0.49 faceted RB. F-F color, VS1-2, none- med fluoroscence. I try to stay below 0.5 carat as there will be a price jump, is that true? Is the 1st stone a high performer? It scored 0.7 and is under the TIC range. However, the clarity is VS1 and I can see the feather with a 10X loupe down in the pavilion nearer to the side of the culet, but not right on the tip. Does that post a durability issue. Since it score 0.7 within the TIC range and is with Excellent Polish and symmetry. Why is it only of a very good cut grade? tks!

Hi thanks for the reply! I am rather color sensitive:) hence will prefer to stay within the E-F range. Moreover I may be resetting the earrings and using it as 2 sidestone with the .72 carat in the centre which is also a E color.Yes you both of you are right, I should go for an exchange. Yap, there is a significant $/carat jump at the 0.5c mark.

The first stone from the numbers look like a good performer to me. The VG cut grade is due to the numbers falling just outside what GIA defined as it's Ex grade numbers. Change the pavilion angles to 40.6 and GIA would probably give it an Ex cut grade. Clarity grade is only graded from table view, so it can have inclusions visible from other direction. VS1 inclusion should not be a durability issue but have it check out with your jeweler or an independent appraiser if you are worried.
