shower planning has begun - i''ve heard (read) lots of opinions on both sides. what''s your take? lots of fun or worst game ever?
ETA: i do in fact know how to spell ''dress''...it''s just late here!
ETAA: any other suggestions for games?
We played only two "games" (though one was not so much of a game) at the shower...Date: 9/10/2008 10:44:03 PM

I have had a lot of fun with that game. I got super creative and made a toilet paper e-ring, toilet paper breast augmentation, the works!
I do however, cringe at the thought of all the wasted toilet paper! (I know sad, but I am an Ecologist so seeing anything go to waste kills me!) While I don''t want to see the toilet paper wasted, I sure don''t want to use it either with everyone''s hands all over it! (I''m also slightly OCD)![]()

MIL''s was ''marry a rich man''...![]()
That should read: "Musey''s FI, what''s HER favorite comfort food"... I would''ve answered mac & cheese, and if he answers mac & cheese he gets a point. That made NO sense the way I wrote it!!Date: 9/11/2008 10:53:45 AM

1. Newlywed Game: All the guys went in one room, and all the women went in another. They asked us each a bunch of questions about the other person (Musey, what''s your FI''s favorite comfort food?). Then when we came back, they asked me FI''s questions and vice versa style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: yellow">(Musey''s FI, what''s your favorite comfort food?), and tallied up how many we answered correctly/the same. We scored almost perfectly!! It was really fun. Only works if you''re having a co-ed wedding shower, though, as opposed to a bridal shower.

actually, you CAN do this game if you''re doing a non-co-ed bridal shower. my MOH asked DH the questions beforehand and i was asked the same questions there in front of everyone. If we both answered the same thing then it was counted correctly.Date: 9/11/2008 10:53:45 AM

2. Recipes for a good marriage: All guests were given little recipe cards on which to write their tips/''recipes'' for a successful marriage. Then they were all placed in a box. We passed the box around the room and each person read one of the recipes, then FI and I had to guess who wrote them. We got to keep the box of recipes at the end, so that was fun![]()
My FMIL was telling me about her shower, and one thing they did was have her bake a ''wedding'' cake from scratch, with no recipe (they all helped put it together, but she had to formulate the recipe by herself). Baking is so precise that even she, a pretty expert pastry chef, had trouble! They all shared it when it was done.
You can do a variation on it, obviously--I was saying that you couldn't do it the way we did it.Date: 9/11/2008 11:57:17 PM
