What will you be using/did you use for your wedding?

As it stands for me currently:

Old, borrowed and blue - A yellow gold sapphire and diamond ring of FMIL''s. It needs sizing up to fit me but she really wanted me to wear it, which means it will forever be too big for her!!

New - My wedding dress!

Something old - A diamond ring that belonged to my grandmother... I''ve been told by multiple jewelers that the OECs are a hundred years old or more!

Something new - Dress, shoes, veil, bracelet, earrings

Borrowed - I''m wearing the pearls my mother wore in her wedding (I''ll be sad to give them back!)

Blue: I have a locket engraved inside with my parents'' and grandparents'' wedding dates (same as mine, just 29 and 63 years earlier) that I''ll be putting pictures from those weddings in. It has a bluebird on it, and I''m pinning it to my bouquet.

I love it all! Only 20 days!

Old: My pearls - my godparents started an add-a-pearl necklace for me when I was born, and later my grandmother added pearls that my grandfather gave her during wwII. And my purse, which was really just a fabric envelope that my mom carried made out of the extra fabric from her wedding dress.

New: Dress, veil, shoes, undies - nearly everything :)

Borrowed: A wedding fan that had been in my DH''s family since the 1880''s. It was "given" to me by his grandmother, and she told me that after I used it, she wanted me to give it to my SIL, so it was really borrowed from my SIL, which was nice because we''re somewhat close.

Blue: My garter, my BMs wrote their names in blue sharpie on the bottom of my shoes, and I slid an aqua pendant that my college roommate gave me as a shower gift on to the clasp at the back of my pearls.

Six pence: I superglued one to the bottom of one of my heels!

old - friendship ring my dad gave to my mom + grandmother''s ring - both were on my bouquet
new - dress
borrowed - veil
blue - blue anklet with the word ''love'' in silver that my sis gave me

I am a little confused by something....is this tradition generally for things that are WORN on your body? Because I always thought it meant any part of the wedding...!!! Seeing the previous posters, now I''m worried!!

Old... My grandma''s pearl earrings (she gave them to me before she passed away)
New... Take your pic... dress, shoes, spanx, etc
Borrowed... My mom''s veil
Blue... my garter

Love this thread- great idea mm!

Old: my engagement ring. It was given to me by FI''s grandma. And I used my mom''s veil''s material to make my own veil.
New: dress, shoes, underwear
Borrowed: my crinoline. got it from someone my mom works with!
Blue: aquamarine earrings and necklace. and my garter has a small blue bow on the inside.

Something old: a skeleton key from the house I grew up in. The house was built in 1903.

Something new: wedding dress, shoes, and veil

Something borrowed: the jewelry I''m wearing that day

Something blue: the insole of my shoes.

Fun!
Old: Ok this sounds silly but the way my skirt of the dress is I can be comfy under it so I am wearing an old pair of cotton really comfortable briefs that don''t move or anything so no wedgie fears.
New: My dress!
Borrowed: My mom''s pearl and diamond earrings
Blue: I will wear a Penn State garter for the FI to see after the wedding.

Something old: A crystal brooch of my grandmothers, I will pin it to my bouquet.

Something new: Wedding dress

Something borrowed: No idea.

Something blue: Diamond and sapphire ring (Still needs to be purchased

My old were earrings.
New was my wedding dress, veil, shoes etc.

Blue was an agent provocateur garter.

Old: vintage purse from my grandmother.
New: wedding band (and most other stuff)
Borrowed: Jewelry--single strand from FI''s mom, my mom''s anniversary band
Blue: shoes

Old: Not sure yet, I have been asking around in the family for a veil from a relative''''s wedding to incorporate into my own veil. But so far, no luck.
New: Dress & shoes!
Borrowed and Blue: I will be wearing my mom''s sapphire earrings more than likely. She just got them reset in white gold for her own wedding next Saturday!

This is a fun thread!!!

old: a photo of my grandparents inside a locket that will hang in my bouquet, they aren''t with us anymore
7.gif

new: dress, earrings from my parents
borrowed: uhhhhh no idea lol
blue: it was going to be my blue shoes, now i need to find something different, dang!

Something Old: My diamond tennis bracelet (a childhood gift from my grandfather).

Something New: My wedding dress.

Something Borrowed: My mother''s antique emerald cut aquamarine ring.

Something Blue: The center diamond in my engagement ring.

Sorry, yes, it''s supposed to be worn. I think it gives room to be creative though.

I have completely forgotten about this tradition until I opened this thread, and our wedding was on Aug 2! Oops.

fun idea!

old: my grandma''s hanky.

new: dress, veil, shoes, hair clip, etc.

borrowed: my grandmother''s wedding & engagement rings (also old!), the rosary made from the pressed roses from my other grandmother''s funeral.

blue: one of my bustle ties & probably panties. i was also going to use crystals to put "i do" on the part of my shoes'' soles that don''t have contact with he ground. we''ll see, tho.

I''m doing a destination wedding so I''m going to try and be super creative and make my Mom bring some type of perfume that is called _____ blue or blue _____ something LOL and wear that on my wedding day...... it can be my something borrowed and something blue. New=dress and Old=the old sand beneath my feet.... LOL I dunno. We are getting married on the beach. I have a bit to figure it out still :)

Old: Don''t know yet...

New: My entire ensemble!

Borrowed: FI''s grandma is loaning me her garter from her second marriage.

More like you need time to list all 45645 blue things you''ll be wearing!

Love it!

So it looks like combining is ok in this tradition, like my borrowed thing can also be my old thing? Because my grandma has and old heirloom diamond ring I could wear if she doesn''t mind. Then I could get something new and blue to balance it out

I have combined things so far, so much so that I only have two items.

As I said, my old, borrowed and blue is a sapphire ring belonging to FI''s mum and my new is everything I am wearing, the dress, shoes and other jewellery!

That''s a great tradition in your family! I hope my hand-me-down veil can turn into something like this, along with my hand-me-down ring!
