I found something in a granite rock. I think it's quarz but I'm newie and I want a qualified opinion. What do you think? could be something interenting?

Looks like a garnet porphyroblast https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porphyroblast.
Why garnet? - red, commonly found, hexagonal outline.

This is just my guess though, my credentials are "I've taken first year geology at university".

Can you take it to a mineral shop for confirmation?
