Hi.
I never had a chance to propose to my wife so I want to give her a ring after 7 years of marrige.
It''s my first Diamond purchase so I would appreciate your expert and honest opinion.

Shape: Round Brilliant Cut
Size: 1.12 CT
Clarity: SI-1
Colour: E
Cut: Good
Dimensions: 6.94mm x 7.01mm x 3.80mm
Total Depth: 54.5%
Table Size: 64%
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good

It''s GIA certified and GemLab appraised at $21,550 (I am sure appraised value does not mean much)

Following worries me little bit

Cut: Good - Is "Good" good enough or should I get higher grade?
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: Faint - Does this effect the value of the stone?
Culet: Small - Most stones have none but this one has small cutlet
Depth: 54.5% - Depth and Table % seems little off
Table: 64%

What would be the good price for the stone? It''s set on 14K white gold.

Thanks.

Hi joon,

You are correct in your worries. You want to look for Very Good or better in, Cut, Polish, Symmetry

Depth and table are not good, even if we reversed them.

I don't know what a good price would be, and I would not recommend spending any money on this diamond. CUT, is everything to making a beautiful diamond. It's what makes it sparkle, and have great brilliance and fire. This stone is not cut well at all. I know you can do better!

If you'd like us to help you, we'd be glad to find something suitable.

p.s. I think it's very sweet of you to buy her a ring!

I have limited budget and want to get her above 1 CT.

Would above ring be a good purcahse if it''s $4500 including the 14K white gold cathedral setting?

I checked a few online diamond sites like Bluenile, Excel and price is around $5500 for the stone and $350 for the setting.

Thanks.

I concur with Ellen. Go for the cut, look for excellent or very good. You can go down in color from your original diamond you stated and that would save you some money. As for the other one you posted can you give us the specs? If you go down in color a bit and probably get an SI clarity (make sure its eye clean) then you should be able to fit your budget.

I got my ER from BlueNile and loved it. There are some other great sites out there, Goodoldgolod.com and whiteflash that have some great prices and I believe there is a PS discount available to one or both of these. Often times if you tell them exactly what you want and your price range they will be able to find the right diamond for you as well.

I think its so super sweet what you are doing for your wife. I''m sure she will be so surprised and happy.
If you find specs of other diamonds just post them here and everyone at PS can help you find something.

Good Luck!

I can''t answer that, as there "isn''t" a price that would be good for me, with that stone. If you want a pretty diamond, stick to a better cut joon. If you just want to get to the 1 ct. mark, then maybe this is the stone for you. I just can''t in good conscience recommend it.

If 4500.00 is what you have to work with, this is something I could recommend.

As a Pricescope customer, you would get an additional discount on the diamond. If eyeclean.

With this setting.

Final price that was offered to me was $3700 inclucing the setting.

Even if that is not a good price for what I am paying then I think I need to save up little more.

Thank you for the advise.

Kevin.

You''re welcome Kevin. And I''m sorry if this seems discouraging, but better to find out it wasn''t well cut now, instead of later...

While you''re saving, I would recommend doing some research around here, it''s chocked full of great information about diamonds, everything you could want to know! There''s a tutorial section up at the top under Knowledge, I would start there. And good luck!

I don''t think it''s that you need to save up more, you just need to pick a better cut stone. More money does not necessarily equal better cut stone.
