Solitaire necklace. How big can I go with a $2300 budget?

I am going to have a solitaire necklace custom made. It will be a DBTY style pendant (full bezel). I have a $2300 budget just for the diamond. What stone would you buy? How big? What quality?

I would go the biggest I could get in the I/J eye-clean range (well cut of course). I dont think you need an H&A
(unless thats what you really want). I have heard some people say that some stones would work better for
pendants and earings than for rings but I''m not sure what about the cut made them that way. Maybe stone or
Lorelie can chime in.

Looks like if you go I/J VS2/SI1 you can get in the low .8 carat range. Brian Gavin has a couple of his
Brian Gavin Selects .81 and .83 in your price range. I would talk to them about a good stone for a pendant
and of course they do beautiful work!
