Solasfera

Hi

If anyone can weigh in on the Solasfera cut. I''ve been presented with the option of buying the stone and it looks beautiful as compared to the standard round cut all other things being equal with the 4c''s. More importantly how do I know I am getting a good price? The solasfer seem to priced about 20% higher than the standard cut.

Right now I am looking at an H 2.02 SI.

I think the Solasfera is a gorgeous, killer cut, and especially in a 2 carater. (In smaller sizes, I think it can look a little too "busy".) I would expect it to be higher in price than a "regular" RB... and honestly, "20% more" doesn''t surprise me at all.

I think you should look at it in person, and side-by-side with other rounds, too. Then you''ll know if it''s the cut for you.

I bought an 1.91 carat I SI1 Solasfera in July 2006 and have it in a Vatche Royal crown setting. I''m still completely happy with it over a year later. I hope you get the opportunity to compare it in person.

You may want to think about where you usually wear your diamond before you pay the extra money for the difference in cut. The majority of the time I am working in standard office fluorescent light. Fluorescent light is very different than the intense "jewelry store" lighting. Most diamonds don''t find it to be the best light to sparkle in. My Solasfera looks good even in the less flattering lighting environment of my office. When you get the diamond under incandescent light or store lighting (especially if you recently cleaned it) it seems to never stop sparkling.

I am definitely going to get a comparision side by side. I intially went the to jewler in NYC expecting to compare pricing on the standard round cut and was introduced to the solasfera. It definitely has peaked my interest and looks amazing. Its not to busy for me. My next trip back will be to compare the stones side by side.

My major concern was the pricing. Basically how do you know you are getting a fair price? Price being equal I could compare the 2.02 H SI with a say 2.01 G VS2 xxx cut. Does this make sense? I am getting a better color and clarity, and still get an excellent cut. Not sure if this makes sense to me just yet I guess these are all questions I need to figure out.
