Annular eclipse, not solar eclipse. Solar eclipse is next April. DH has already made reservations to travel to Texas to see it. I'm staying home. Bit of trivia: solar eclipses will become rarer as the moon continues to move farther away from earth. Currently it's moving away at a distance of approx. 1.49 inches per year.
We were frantically trying to find a cloudless piece of sky yesterday when the eclipse started so just pulled over at a lakeside campground and hoped for the best. I was delighted that the clouds went away for the duration of the eclipse and then came back immediately after it was over.
When the moon was 1/2 covering the sun, the birds started a cacophony and the fish started jumping like crazy, then everything stopped until the moon uncovered 1/2 the sun again.
I'm hoping that someone has a picture like this:
Each spot of light in the foliage produces an image of the partially eclipsed sun.
To be clear, this was not taken in the recent eclipse, but in Brisbane (Aust.) on 14/1/2012 during a partial eclipse. A similar picture, but with full rings, would be very cool...
