Hi Everyone,

So I''m trying this as a repost.

We''ve finally found a stone we love, a beautiful 2 carat cushion brilliant(not modified) that has a vintage feel. Now we''re stuck where to get it set, soho gem or the diamond district.

I love Soho Gems'' settings but they''re charging $5000+. Do you think a jeweler in the diamond district could replicate the design or should we just have peace of mind and go with soho gem? I do know that their setter is in midtown also.

I am hesitant to go elsewhere since I haven''t seen settings look as good as at Soho gems. The band is very delicate and thin with little embellishments. Its exactly what I want! At the same time it is costing alittle bit more that I''d like...

Here is the design we''re looking at:

Any Suggestions? Thanks!

I almost bought my Sholdt setting from them. As they don''t like to sell settings without their stones, they wind up charging you extra.

For mine, Soho gems was going to charge over 4k for the Sholdt, when I posted about it here, I was pointed to Pearlmans Jewelers who were in the middle of bringing the line in. I winded up paying 1,700 less for the same setting. That''s a big difference.

Here''s my post from 2008 about Soho Gems https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/calling-heyelize-or-anyone-that-can-help-with-pricing.80548/

I think the setting can be done for less. I''m pretty sure even Leon Mege would charge less for it. Here''s a link to his site: http://www.artofplatinum.com/
He''s also in the city so if you''re interested, it would be easy to set something up.

You can also do a search here for his settings. There''s another designer that does halo''s but the name escapes me right now.. Maytal something or other?
Hopefully someone else will post with more info and pictures.

Go check out Leon Mege''s work - he does a lot of pave that looks like that. Or Mark at Engagement Rings Direct in the Diamond District - Mark''s front page has a ring that looks very similar and he works a lot with cushions.
