So what do I do? I have a diamond that I want popped out of the old setting to be remounted soon. The diamond never came with a grading except a small blurb from the jewelry store we bought it from.

I know there is a whole big thing with GIA, but I want the stone graded. Should I get it certified with a national organization????or is a private jeweler grading/appraisal OK? Thank you.

what do you want it graded for? if you want it for the paper, then you can send it to a major lab. if you want accurate information on the stone, then go to a good independent appraisor.
