And he told me my tonsils had disappeared.

So many jokes, so little time.....
lol.gif

Seriously, he said they can just, go away. Kinda like, as he said, if you don''t use it, you lose it. (I thought that was MATH?!) Has anyone ever heard this??? Should he stick to things he knows about?? Retire??

Serious? I''ve never heard of such a thing, and hmm. That''s just odd. Did you look in your mouth? Tonsils are visible. Are they gone? That''s crazy odd. My goodness, that''s something. I''ve never had a "girly" dr. make me go, "ahh" and look in my mouth, either. Maybe my dr. is neglecting my tonsils.

I looked, but I never could tell where they were when I HAD them. lol

He always makes me say Ah, listens to my lungs, heart, and thumps on my collarbone. I have no idea why, but it''s not painful, so I let him.

Can I ask ... was a SPECULUM involved in this "tonsils exam"? Cuz that's a heck of a distance ... maybe they were too small to see?

ETA: Or ... have you been on vacation and woken up in a tub with a sore throat? Maybe one of those organ-snatching rings decided your tonsils were $$$$ in the bank!

Are we still talking tonsils?! Or is that code for something of a more (cough) *feminine* nature?
28.gif

My gyn laughed -- laughed, I said -- when I inquired about birth control now that I''m off the pill! So we''re merrily having ourselves a good time w/o encumbrance when I read in Good Housekeeping that pero-menopausal uh-oh pregnancies are NOT uncommon and are a close second to teen pregnancies as the most unplanned!!!! Eeeka Freeka!

This was your gyno?

Was he using a periscope?

Did you actually see a degree on his wall?

3.gif

For some reason, this is my favorite thread in a long time!

Ellen this very suspect ... Funny but suspect. Thanks for the laugh. Is he a new type of specialist - Ear,Nose & Throat gyn?

Have your tonsils been bothering you, thus obviously quite swollen?

I had mine out when I was 20 or so and it was a horrible, painful recovery. They were, however, quite diseased, fill with pus that drained down my throat every night and left me waking up with a metallic taste in my mouth. Pretty sickening. I was glad to get rid of those suckers.
14.gif

Your doctor would have creeped me out though ... I hope that he didn''t make you feel uncomfortable.

It''s sort of like going to the dentist and having him ask about your hemorrhoids. Weird.

deco, like I said, so many jokes....
grins-xmas.gif

holly, yes, tonsils.

jas, lmao at the degree! God, I hope so, he delivered two of my 3 kids...

Sparks, no, they haven''t bothered me since I was 13. Before that, it was never ending Strep throats.
14.gif

Honestly, it wasn''t creepy at all. Like I said, he''s delivered two of my kids. I''ve known him since I was 17, and he took very good care of me when I had a bad pap test a few years ago. He''s been doing this for 40 years.

HAHAHHAHAHHAH. Oh my goodness gracious DECO!

I had mine out quite late, they were diseased, to say the least. Have you suffered from many strep throats?? Could be they disinigrated on their own??
And since when does the gyno look in your throat?? So confused......

That''s what he was implying Kaleigh. And like I said earlier, I had Strep NON STOP until I was 13, then never again.

I guess he''s just thorough??

Well, consider yourself lucky?? Having mine removed was a B****!!!

Oh this is funny. A lovely (if bizzare) cap to my work day. I don't think my gyno has ever um... gone quite THAT far NORTH before. Interesting.

HI:

ahem...which tonsils?

cheers--Sharon

Good one.

And, while apparently this is far from the norm, I''d much rather have him do this, than my GP trying, to, well, you know.

I know I''ll probably regret this, but, I''m confused. And quite frankly, I''m affraid to ask you to elaborate.

I dunno, but one of my family members had hers removed (as a child) and they grew back! Crazy suckers!

I don''t know WHY, but that struck me so funny!

Tonsils?? My gyno never checked them! He is much too busy using his giant car jack!! And, he''s the kind who likes to crack jokes and talk to me. So, first time I try to crack a joke (during the breast exam I say "so you ARE talking me to dinner, right?") he gets all flummoxed. Maybe the tonsils would be an easier route....

Funny you should say this.. one of my ortho docs is quite tight laced.. and one of the patients is simply not.. so.. she was getting her shoulder checked on again on day.. and.. she went to take off her shirt for him, and.. she wore sparkly red pasties with tassles. It certainly helped him to loosen up. LOL NO ONE ever forgot it. He was as red as her pasties. LOL

I have trouble finding pasties around here, where does she get hers??

we don't have any of those close. I have to go catalogue shopping....

ETA- additionally, OUCHIE! It's all fun and games until someone loses a, well, you know..

I don''t know how I missed this thread until now! I had to tell my FI and he said, "well, maybe he was just being very thorough."

Oh, I saw that Ellen beat my FI to the punch. Love the tassles story.

So I gotta say my immediate thought when I read the beginning of this thread is that Ellen must be built *differently* than I am if her gyno can feel her tonsils from... um... *THERE*.

Hey, be glad you did not go to the ENT for a sore throat and have him tell you about your nether parts~

(as in why are you getting naked to have your throat checked??!! Reminds me of an old joke in a magazine when I was a kid!)

Oh Ellen! Thanks for starting this thread! I am just laughing! I don''t have any advice and I think everyone else has said it all

. Jokes abound when tonsils and gyno are in the same sentence.

Oh my goodness this thread is hilarious!!!

And I''m so glad it''s nothing bad, I was worried when I saw the title!

Ellen a doctor once asked my Mam when did she have her tonsils removed. She never did. Turns out they can just shrink to the point where you can''t see them any more. Wish that happened to me... oh boy did that operation hurt
