I went to an auction in my home town, seized goods from criminals! Pre PS I would have been seduced by the jewels. However, I now know better. They all had an AGI appraisal with a very inflated retail value. And the starting bids were inflated as well. In addition, they tacked 17.5% on the purchase price plus the California tax on top of that. So, anything you win, you can tack 25% or so on that price. Have you had any luck at auctions? Just curious

I cruise auctions for antique jewelry and I’ve had 0 wins so far. I’ve bid on about 4-5 items, mainly brooches.
