Halo or go? Not sure if many PS mommas have a as I haven't seen it mentioned, but we are considering it and unsure which version is for us. The halo vibrates at 15 seconds of no movement/breathing, and alarms at 20. The Go can alarm at 15, 18 or 20 seconds of no movement, but doesn't vibrate. So...would you rather know sooner or have the 5 second vibrate to see if that gets the job done (I.e. baby breathing again) and no alarm (but a light goes on so you know it happened in the morning) if it works, but if the vibration doesn't, then it alarms At 20 seconds.

Thoughts? Anyone have experience with the snuzas? Thanks!

Hmmm I kind of assumed some mommas on here had a Snuza. Maybe that was a bit presumptuous of me? It's a baby monitor that senses breathing and alerts if the baby stops breathing. Similar to angel care, but it is like a beeper on the baby's diaper versus a sensor mat under the crib mattress.

Has anyone had experience with a Snuza or considering buying one?

A lady on a blog I read had one. She said it had so many false alarms she stopped using it. Apparently it caused her more anxiety than it helped prevent.

I used a similar monitor, and I think it probably prevented a crib death here. My baby did stop breathing twice in her first month, and the monitor picked it up. I don't know if she would have been ok without intervention or not, but I'm very glad we had it. Ours was the Respisense monitor. We had I think two false alarms with it, once when it fell off because I hadn't secured it properly, and once when it alarmed for no reason I could see. Probably wasn't making proper contact with skin. I did hear it vibrate multiple times during the night, often between 1am and 3am, so I think it was doing its job.

I studied forensic medicine for two years as part of my legal studies, finishing just a few weeks after my baby was born, with an exam covering neonatal death. There is nothing quite like that to make you paranoid. That, and my friend's loss of a baby to SIDS. There was never any doubt I would use a monitor like this, because it was my greatest fear. It was the only baby 'gadget' I bought and it was worth every single penny.

I had the snuza and slept much better when he was wearing it. Best $80 spent!!! He did stop wearing it around 6-7 months when he would move around so much in the crib.

We've been using the Snuza Go since 7 weeks. He'll be 5 months in a few days. We've literally never had a false alarm (When properly attached, I hear its rarely an issue) and it's worked wonderfully. I recommend it to all my new mommy friends.

Thanks so much elle - glad to hear others have liked it and that it works well!
