This article had me laughing out loud at 6:30 this morning before any coffee. I can't imagine how funny it would be (will be?) to see a video of it. I wanted to share an excerpt from it here.

"Still, the night belonged to Ms. McCarthy, the star of 'Bridesmaids' and 'Ghostbusters,' who came out in thinning blond hair and an ill-fitting suit to play an aggressive, gum-chugging version of Mr. Spicer as he led a daily White House press briefing.

'I know that myself and the press have gotten off to a rocky start,' she said, starting off the session. 'When I say rocky start, I mean it in the sense of Rocky, the movie, because I came out here to punch you in the face. And also I don’t talk so good.'

As Mr. Spicer, Ms. McCarthy then told the press corps she would be 'apologizing, on behalf of you, to me, for how you have treated me these last two weeks.'

'And that apology is not accepted,' she added.

Discussing Mr. Trump’s recent announcement that he would nominate Judge Neil M. Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, Ms. McCarthy said, 'The crowd greeted him with a standing ovation, which lasted a full 15 minutes. And you can check the tape on that. Everyone was smiling. Everyone was happy. The men all had erections, and every single one of the women was ovulating left and right. And no one, no one was sad. Those are the facts forever.'

An addled Ms. McCarthy then read her own email password, and tangled with a New York Times reporter (played by Bobby Moynihan) who asked why Mr. Trump did or did not use the word 'ban' when describing his executive order prohibiting travelers from seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States.

'You just said that,' she told the reporter. 'He’s quoting you. It’s your words. He’s using your words, when you use the words and he uses them back, it’s circular using of the word and that’s from you.'

When a Wall Street Journal reporter simply asked, 'Are you O.K.?' Ms. McCarthy charged at her with her podium and threatened, 'I will put you in the corner with CNN.' (The screen then showed a CNN reporter in a cage.)"

O!M!G!

That was fvcking HILARIOUS!!!

Thanks for sharing Deb. I'm with Dee Jay. Hilarious.

McCarthy was awesome!

I have to say that I've certainly been doing my part to contribute to the economy since the election. In addition to an entire new wardrobe of T-shirts -- I'm now up to FIVE -- for the first time in my entire adult life this morning I considered buying a TV!

(As I mentioned to Missy off this thread, that urge went away once I had a second cup of coffee and came to my senses, but if this keeps up I may have to revisit it... !)

Haha I love SNL for not backing off Trump. And this is amazing.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so loud, SNL was flipping hilarious!.

Just watched again with Greg this time and we were both crying we were laughing so hard. Melissa McCarthy was amazing.

Dee Jay, forget the tv. Let's stimulate the economy with more bling buying! Shall I start making appointments for us? I know Callie would happily join in. :cheeky: :appl:

I went back to bed and when I got up I revisited Pricescope and saw that there were a lot of other postings in this thread besides mine. I am so glad I brought some cheer to others on his board. You gave me the idea of going back to watch the clip again. I think I shall do that now. Life is short. What was it that Hobbes said? Nasty, brutish, and short, I think. ;))

Deb :wavey:

I saw it this morning. McCarthy is a brilliant comedian. Friends were even texting me about its greatness.

SNL, isnt that the same fine institution whose writer said Barron Trump would be shooting classmates from a tower.

And then only after much back lash they finally did something about it.

No one here boycotting them?

What are your standards for not doing business with a company and speaking with your pocket book?

Nope, not boycotting them. They DID do something about the issue, albeit in a slower time frame than I would have preferred, but they DID.

Let me also say that SNL's content is so entertaining that I choose to watch certain of their pieces regardless of how the Barron thing turned out. That's my prerogative. It is also my prerogative to buy Ivanka's shoes even if I think she ripped off the design from another company. (That last bit was a purely illustrative example; I would not wear her shoes if they were given to me for free.) I'm also free to drink Bud -- or not -- based on Pvss Grab's unnecessary and potentially unconstitutional travel ban. Prerogative.

As for speaking with my pocket book, the only one who made anything off of my viewing of the youtube video was, as far as I understand the model, youtube. I may however be wrong on that so if anyone has a better understanding of how the economics of youtube work please feel free to enlighten me.

BTW, you're welcome to claim I got off topic here with the shoes and the beer. Those were examples in support of my point however, not red herrings.

I hate icons. I find people use them to incite.

But my post was tongue in cheek. See my response to SonneyJane on the other thread.

All this boycotting is becoming foolish.

Now one side wants us to boycott flying.

Thank you for taking the time to point out my mistake.

I obviously did not scroll down far enough.

Thankfully, I have better manners then to correct everyone else's poor spelling and typos.

I do see your comment -- do I get a prize?!

Your tongue-in-cheek tone eluded me however. Even the magic of the internet makes conveying tone difficult at times when there are only words on a screen to go off of.

You want to test my observational skills late-afternoon on a lazy Sunday...? Not fair! (There *may* have been bellinis involved... )

Mmm bellinis...what a lovely Sunday!!

And in deference to Deb's thread, I must add that I watched all of SNL this morning - it was a GREAT episode.

My daughters and I watched SNL skits instead of the Superbowl last evening. Very entertaining. I think Melissa McCarthy is hilarious. Check out the supermarket sweep skit.

Google around for the Superbowl commercials from last night. Audi's was feminist as all get out and several other companies had VERY liberal messages. Not to mention Lady Gaga's halftime show and its message of inclusiveness. I'm no fan of contact sports and especially those which do not include women players and that some players have been allowed to get away with some reprehensible behavior, but there is room for all in this event and it really showed last night.

I thought this skit was pretty dang funny. She is a hilarious woman, politics aside.

The halftime show on the Superbowl was great and I see it as a message of inclusiveness by singing both God Bless America and This Land is Your Land. I truly hope it was intended that way.

She's not known to be an a-hole when it comes to tolerance. She performed in Texas. She just had a huge hit with "Million Reasons" which has a distinct country/western flavor and the lyrics talk about prayer/Lord/etc. I'm 100% sure it was intended to be very all-inclusive, her show. http://www.beliefnet.com/celebrity-faith-database/l/lady-gaga.aspx

I wasn't really talking about her faith. More to the use of both songs as they have historical significance to each other. - Irving Berlin and Woody Guthrie.

First, welcome back.

I loved the half time show.

But judging by twitter, more people seem to be up in arms that Lady Gaga's stomach is not entirely flat.

So it seems no matter how you try, some people are going to put you down.

Ugh, I KNEW that would come up when I was watching it last night. Her costume was snug, for one, and she was wearing dance tights that are cut lower than high waisted pantyhose/tights. Of course there will be some protrusion of SKIN. People are NUTS if they think her belly isn't flat or there's something wrong with it. That is so sad.

Red, I never knew that about those two songs. Interesting, thanks for the link.
