Has anyone tried this? Are they easy to use? I have a parcel
Of gems that i got once with a purchase and there are two stones that would make pretty pendants.
I am curious to put them in a basic pendant and see.
Thanks! Does it work like it says, where you can just press down and they snap in?
Yes I just want to put them in two pretty pendants. I just want to use the stones. They are just sitting in the jewelry box right now. I am not wven sure what they are. One is a 5mm green stone and one is a 6 mm coral colored cab. I just wanted to put one in a bezel and one in a plain pendant and see what happened.
Yes I’ve used the snap tite settings. They are fairly light weight in terms of metal (I used sterling silver). The issue is that your gem has to match the size and shape of the available settings. Very easy to use, you place the gem face down on a firm surface and literally press down on the setting and the gem “clicks” into the setting.
You can have more options if you also try “pre notched” settings. You need a pair of setting pliers to press down the claws over the gem you are setting.
I used flat nose pliers to press down the claws to make them more secure.
One can use a pusher to press them down, as can be seen in the tutorial videos via Google.
I happen to have flat nose pliers already, hence I used them instead of a pusher.

With snap-tite I've used the the past, the metal was easily shaped by fingers alone. It is a rolled flat metal, and usually fits calibrated stones best, because it doesn't leave room, for example for a some within measurement but out of proportion.
Prenotched settings you would need pliers because the metal is thicker. It's also a good idea to get a prong opener in case you don't like how you set it in on an attempt. For example, too much pressure on one side leading to an off center setting.
i used snap-tite for tiny (2mm) pairs of earrings (1 pair in silver, 1 pair in gold)....i found that just pressing down didn't work b/c the stones were so small but using pliers did. i've had them for about a year and haven't had any issues - typically leave them in while sleeping, shower, etc. i wasn't expecting much tbh but they worked fine and at that size they look fine also.
Yeah I am not expecting they be perfect or great craftsmanship. Just that they hold the stone and I can have some fun trying to set them and wear them occasionally!
