I have been researching for an Ering for my GF. We have been to a few B&M stores and looks like she prefers the .75-1.00 carat range. We were not able to differentiate between D or J in color. We also couldnt tell a huge difference between SI2 and VVS1. So as long as the diamond is eye clean, I think we''ll be ok. Cut was the most important aspect to us especially after reading this forum.

She is searching for the setting, while I look for the diamond. She''ll let me know the setting when she''s ready and I''ll buy the diamond when the right one passes by. Hopefully, by the end of this year, I''ll be able to ''surprise'' her. :D

I have started the search for the perfect diamond for the budget of $2000-$2800. These are the ones that caught my eye, and was wondering if any of you can help me in my search. I have been eliminating them by the best cut available, HCA, and Price. Let me know if you have any questions!

0.84 J VS2

0.765 J VS1

0.75 E SI2

0.758 J VS1

Thanks!

Hello and welcome.

First off, did you guys decide beforehand that she wanted a round diamond? I''d hate for you to go through the process of finding an RB and then have her pick out a setting for a different shape. If you have then that''s great, I just thought I''d put it out there. lol

That said, of the stones you posted I like the 0.765 J VS1 stone best. I think it is very pretty and love the ASET and IS images.

Good luck!

I think the E SI2 is not eye clean, the inclusion is right on the table, you can see it in the photo and IS pic. Probably not a good buy.

The other 3 all looks very good. :)

girlie-girl, thank you for your suggestion but looks like that one is sold.

Is it common for diamonds to get sold in a matter of hours? We both like RB''s.

The prices I am looking at for the rest of the two diamonds, are they fair? For example, I am liking the .84 carat, but is the price fair? Is there a way to haggle? What do they mean by bankwire?

I know, lots of questions! This is stressful! hehe

I think it is common, especially for diamonds from 0.75-1.00. I think the fastest selling stones seems to be those .9-1.0. Never seen many on stocks. Might be they are just not cut to that size but push over to above 1.0c for better profit?

Anyway, I think the .84c price looks fair. Not sure how to haggle too... :p Bankwire is a direct transfer of your cash in your bank to another account, in effect you are paying for cash for the purchase.

Hope this help. :)

I''m no expert on this and just recently bought a diamond so take my opinion with a grain of salt. But usually diamonds within .75 to 1.0 are very popular diamonds and the size that I would say majority of people are looking to be in with a budget. You''ll usually see a jump from .7ish to .9ish of 1k in price, and then from .9 to 1.0 another jump in 1k.

Those prices look fair to me, and you can probably compare it to others who are buying and posting on here. I''ve personally tried haggling with B&M stores and they have never come even 1k close to online prices. I don''t believe you can haggle for online stones as they are already running a tight margin, and they usually provide you with much more information then B&M stores. The best you can probably do is a price match or have them beat it by a little for non in store stones.

If you want to get closer to the 1ct weight I would suggest going to trusted pricescope online vendors that don''t provide you with all the bells and whistles, and have those stone sent to independent appraisers.

My finally suggest is actually pick the setting first and then find the stone... All the vendors you listed are great vendors, but you will save yourself a lot of hassle and money if you get your stone and and setting at one place. You might also be able to work with the pricing if you get the settling from the individual you are buying your diamond from... this will probably vary from store to store.

Anyways I''m probably bias but I had a great experience with ERD and maybe you might like this stone... dunno if its on the market anymore, but you might ask and other online vendors probably have access to it to if you decide to go with them on the setting or they can find comparable.

0.84ct J VS2 from WF

Another option.

I don't think there is haggling. The bank wire price is a discount for paying with a bank wire and not credit card. These are all gorgeous stones and the prices are very fair.
