Hi everyone,

I just recieved a finsihed engagement ring from Whiteflash. I was/am extremly happy with the whole process. Although when I got the ring I was comparing it with another ring my GF wears on her ring finger by putting them on my pinky. The new engagement ring is a bit snug compared to the other ring, I'm not even sure if its even a 1/2 size larger. I will be proposing after a long walk in the summer so I'm worried that it being snug plus her finger possibly being a little swollen might make for an embarrasing proposal :/

The ring is a 1.5 carat 4 prong solitaire. Would you guys deal with the trouble of sending it back to WF or just go to a local jewler to resize up a little bit (I live in NYC so I assume quality jewlers will not be hard to find).

Please let me know your thoughts

I hate to even suggest it, BUT , you could propose and if its snug Jared can resize it in an afternoon.

Lots of things can factor into how a ring will fit:
A thicker ring will usually have a tighter fit
A ring that's rounded on the inside ('comfort fit') will usually have a looser fit
A ring with an elaborate head that has a lot of negative space (U-prong, etc.) will have a looser fit
A ring will fit differently on a woman whose knuckles are bigger than the fleshy part of the finger the ring actually sits on
And on top of that some women just prefer their rings a bit looser or tighter!

I'd second April's suggestion of holding off on sizing until she's tried it on. If it's a plain solitaire it'll be no problem to size it in NYC, but best to make sure it actually needs it first ::) A 1/2 size too tight isn't going to stop her from being able to put it on at all when you propose, if that's what you're worried about.

It will definetely need a resize in the future because the ring I compared it to she will usually switch fingers if its very humid out after being outside for a bit. So I think the ring may be able to go on albeit tight initially but a small resizing up will have to happen soon after.

Also does anyone have any suggestions for whoto take it to in NYC?

I agree with Yssie. If you can hold out, I would. =)

FWIW, I wear three rings (ering, wband, eternity) and they are all slighty different sizes (5.5, 5.25, 5 - respectively) due to how they're made and the thickness. Also a woman's ring size will fluctuate depending on the weather, time of day, her cycle, and how many rings are on her finger at once. Although my rings are snug in the mornings, they will be "falling off" by 4 PM!! This is why I'd try to wait if you can... Also, do you have a thread about her ring?? We'd love to see it!!

GOOD LUCK!

I will definetely post pictures soon. I owe it to the community for all the help that was given here. Sadly I forgot my phone today which has the pictures!

Yes, get right on that, Sbenoit!!!
