All I've done is cut down on sweets and white flour and I've already lost 10 pounds.
I really have not been exercising more, though I should.

This has been easy . . . so far.

Hope it stays this easy.

Good job Kenny!

Good job Kenny!

I recently cut out most white flours and cheeses, and am working on cutting out processed food (at least for the summer) altogether. We''ve been eating a ton of fruits and veggies and I have dropped about 7 lbs. in the last 3 weeks. I''ve been walking almost every evening for ~30 min, and on weekends we try to get in longer walks together.

Good work, there kenny! You too, monarch64.

Keep up the good work Monarch.

Maybe I''ll buy that ice cream maker now.

That''s great! What kind of sweets and white flour did you specifically cut down on? Sweets are my weakness.

I found that just dropping soda a couple of years ago helped tremendously.

Deal.
I wonder if Chardonnay ice cream would be good.

I don't know, but there's a recipe for Champagne sorbet I've been dying to try. I just need an occasion to open a bottle of bubbly and it'll be in the ice cream maker, pronto.

I say, if you buy the ice cream maker, stick to small amounts of "healthier" frozen treats...David Lebovitz has a yummy-sounding recipe for blood orange sorbet and one for strawberry frozen yogurt. They both have added sugar, so they're not great for you despite the real fruit in them, but a little goes a looong way.

And congrats on the progress so far!

ETA: sorry to be an enabler -- but a tiny indulgence here and there can stave off big indulgences from feeling deprived. I eat ice cream from a little glass "pinch pot" (those miniature bowls people use for ingredients when cooking) with a baby spoon and it's just as satisfying as a big bowl of it, even though it's tiny!

Way to go Kenny!!!

Good job Kenny!

My weight loss is much more slow going...I''ve lost 6.5 in about 6 weeks. 1-2 lbs a week is healthy, so that''s fine by me. I''m not cutting out anything...but am eating more whole wheat and fiber. I don''t feel deprived at all, which is nice. All about portion control and healthy snacks for me right now.

That''s great Kenny! Well done!

Good job!

I do WW.. down 31 lbs.

Awesome job Kenny!

I always find that when I stop drinking juices for a week, I love 5lbs easily. I''m not a big water drinker though so when I do make it a habit, my body reacts instantly.

I''m waiting for the classes to start here! How long did it take to lose the 31lbs? (just curious...don''t have to answer if you don''t want to

)

Congrats Kenny! A lot of what you are seeing is water weight. When we eat more refined sugars, our bodies tend to retain a lot of water. Also our body stores refined sugars as fat easier than other foods.

It get''s easier

Fiery..I dont mind answering :)

It took me 6.5 months to lose the 31 lbs. I''m also very short so that''s part of the reason why it came off slower for me.

Congrats Kenny! My Mom dropped soda a few years back and dropped 10 pounds, very quickly I might add, so yes the little things do make a difference!Great Job!

Kenny, that''s awesome! Did you replace the white flour with whole wheat, or did you just cut all flour out altogether?

I try to eat only 100% whole wheat.
I''m not OCD about it.
Occasionally white flour gets in, but it is the rare exception.

I''m so glad something is working for you Kenny! I haven''t weighed myself, but I have been eating lots of fruits, veggies (sometimes I vary it up with smoothies and low sodium canned soups) for lunch + dinner, and working out about the same, 3-5 times a week. Dh swears that I look thinner, but I''m afraid to step on a scale.

Congrats to all of you! I''m impressed with your healthier lifestyles. It''s inspiring!

Congratulations!

Awesome! Can you come to my clinic and tell people that?

Super!

I''ve been doing the same thing and I love it. I quit 3 things. I quit refined sugar, bread, and milk products. But I''m no hermit. I enjoy a beer every night after a painting session (I''m an artist) and I love potato chips. My weight is stable (I''m 40, 5''6", 143) and I''m happy. The quit foods totally help my moods, too... so except for the first week of withdrawls, I haven''t had any cravings.

I used to be a serious runner but I hurt my knee in a bike accident and have had to cut a lot of my aerobic exercise out for the time being. That''s why I quit all this stuff. Best knee accident ever, because otherwise I wouldn''t have tried cutting that stuff out.

Greta job Kenny... I''m super happy for you

I have lost 25 pounds in the past by cutting off sugar and all kinds of sweets, sodas and fried food (which unfortunately is very popular in Greece). I continued eating whole wheat bread (three thin slices per day, one per meal, and i sometimes replaced it in the morning with a small portion of bran cereal with milk), grilled meat (veal, lamb, chicken) and fish, boiled eggs and all kinds of vegetables (raw or cooked in the casserole with three spoonfulls of olive oil and tomato), fresh fruit, 1% milk (you need just a little fat in the milk or else you lose many important milk vitamins which are dissolved in it) and feta cheese (only once per day and just a very small piece). I was eating small portions and a big part of every meal consisted of salads and vegetables. I never skipped a meal. In between the three meals i`d have an apple or some other fruit (no grapes or bananas). I only had two small glasses of white wine per week (
39.gif
) and that only after i had successfully completed four weeks of dieting and my metabolism had started working very well (huge sacrifice for me to cut down on the wine..). Until today i`m drinking fifteen glasses of water per day and it really flushes away the melted fat and all the toxins from the body... I try to move a little coz i totally hate working out
14.gif
So i`m mostly walking or going up the metro stairs instead of taking the escalator... I am now 36 years old, my height is a little over 5.6 (1.71 cm) and my weight is 59 kilos (130 pounds). My perfect weight is 57 kilos but i have been fighting with those stupid 2 kilos for more than a year now and so far no luck

Congrats, Kenny!

My DH cut out Kool-aid and mayonaisse, both of which he normally consumed every day, and he lost 10 pounds. It took a while but he was surprised how a small change could really make a difference!
