What's the aesthetic implication of a small culet for a princess cut?

Your both right, but the cutter saved a ton of weight by just cutting it to be a princess cut.------------------

Hi Diamondvirg,Medium and smaller culet should not have any aesthetic effect since it won't be visible with the naked eye when viewed from the table.Only if culet is large, it will look like a hole or inclusion.Small culet shouldn't bother you at all

diamondvirg-leonid is right. The cutter retained a little extra weight from the original crystal by not closing the culet. By definition the small culet is not visible to the unaided eye (at 18 inches). So there is no aesthetic implication.
