Hello,

I am delighted because I got the green light today from my wonderful, long-suffering SO to put the e-ring order in on Monday with WF. eeeek!!

However, I am now panicking slightly about my choice.

This is the stone

www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-1204643.htm#

I would like the sleek-line legato setting in platinum, 4.75 size.

Initially there hadn''t been a photo on the website of the stone - just the 40+ pic. A photo was loaded on to the site the other day. I think it looks a bit cloudy and yellow, and have spent quite a while flicking between other photos on the site and have decided that the photo of the stone I am keen on looks the worst of them all.

But I do realise it is just a photo....!! Looking at the numbers for the stone I like it surely couldn''t look cloudy and yellow in real life? The other diamonds seem to have nice crisps arrows etc, whereas this one looks a bit dull to me (though I am not sure I am thinking straight!)

I have been told by WF (I spoke to Lesley) that it is a lovely stone, and a good buy, and only missed the ACA selection because it has med-blue fluoro - should I go by the numbers or should that photo concern me in any way, or am I just being dumb?

Secondly, SO worries that 1.2 carat on my hand will look a bit big. I tried on a 1.1 solitaire in town today and I thought it looked perfect- an extra .1 carat won''t make that big a difference will it?

Thanks for persevering with this post - feel free to tell me to wise up (as they say over here in Northern Ireland!).

Sweetie, it''s going to look gorgeous . . . don''t worry! I think it looks beautiful in the photo. And if you''re worried about the fact that it''s an "I" color, DON''T! The center stone in my e-ring is a "J" and it''s a radiant cut (which tend to show more color than other cuts), and it looks very white from all angles. Your ring is gonna be absolutely stunning! And I promise you, WF would never let you buy a cloudy, yellow-looking stone. They are WONDERFUL!!! If Lesley says it''s beautiful, that''s all you need!

Diamonds are notoriously difficult to photograph. If you think the photo of your diamond looks less crisp than some of the others you''ve seen on the WF website, it''s probably just the picture. Those arrows are VERY crisp to me!

When you get it, of course, you''ll have to post LOTS of pics for us, and you''ll have to change your screen name!!!

I see what you mean about the photo. The picture just isn''t as sharp. I''m sure the stone is fine, and a bit of blue fluor is a great thing in an I.

I don't think you have anything to worry about! And about the fluo, I would looove to have a stone with med-blue!!

In most cases that I've read, your stone (in that color grade) can look whiter with it than without!! I think that's such a neat feature and I have been seeking it out myself!
Congrats and I second taking pictures!!!!

Its a fabulous diamond, beautifully cut and it will be a lovely size - no worries!

Thank you both of you. I am glad that you think that the photo isn''t as sharp, and it''s not just my imagination, but it''s good to know that they are difficult photos to take!

I think it''ll be really pretty. Just for fun, I took the liberty of running it through the HCA for you.

Yep, it''s fine. And no, that size will NOT be too big! It''s loverly.

You have all been very kind - thank you!
I can relax a bit now and enjoy the whole process...and hopefully the handshots will follow

Oooops a bit late to the party! Just wanted to tell you that I''ve just bought an I with strong blue fluor. It''s WHITE! I was worried it would be yellowish but it most definitely isn''t! I bet it''ll be a stunner!

well, the party''s over....someone else has bought it.

I am very sad about this, (quite upset really) - hopefully I will find another nice stone, but I''ll maybe need to code my discussions about it a bit better.

Oh well.

I''m so sorry! Unfortunately there are many lurkers on here who snatch stones others find once they are "approved" by the PS regulars. In the future, it''s best to ask for a stone to be put on hold if you are really interested in it before posting it.

Oh no, poor you. I''m so sorry to hear that. Well, look at it this way, it probably means that there is something extra special just waiting for you ......... you''ve just got to do a bit of searching and I''m sure you''ll find it. Hope you find something soon.

Darn... I'm so sorry somebody else bought it.
IA with putting it on hold next time! People are quick, aren't they?
Good luck and keep us posted on which one you choose.

Trust me! It won''t look too big, diamonds shrink don''t you know

I would absolutely trust Lesley, she is very honest. If the only reason it missed out on the ACA is the fluoro thing, then it should be a stunner and you have picked yourself a great diamond. Try not to stress too much, it will look fabulous!!!

Don''t forget to come back with handshots!!!

Oh no! I'm sorry someone else beat you to it ELH - there are alot of lurkers here and this has happened before, just be sure and tell your rep to hold it for you next time.
Fwiw, I think that stone was a gorgeous choice, and you really can trust what WF tell you.
Also, for reference, here is a pic of my ring, pretty much the same as yours - 1.25 Legato on 4.75 finger - not too big at all, I'm sure you will agree!

(uurgh, sorry about pasty hands, Winter here!)

Aw. I''m sorry! As neat said, you might want to reserve a stone before discussing. And if you need any help, just holler. I poked around, and there seem to be a few other options, especially if you would consider an SI2, assuming they''re eyeclean.

Well darn! I guess that it was just not meant to be. You will find your stone, and it will be perfect
