Hi everyone! I want to make a slide show for my daughter''s second birthday with music to accompany it. You guys always have great ideas, so I thought I would come out of lurkdome to ask for some suggestions of "sappy" songs to use. My ideas so far...

Baby Mine - performed by Kenny Loggins

My Wish - Rascal Flatts

Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World - Israel Kamakawiwo''ole

Thanks in advance, and please help me!!

Okay, it''s cheesy, but what about the "I love" song by Tom T Hall. Or "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby"

Bump for more ideas??

I''m thinking sentimental tear-jerker kind of songs.....I''m just drawing a blank!

This may not be everyone''s taste but DH made a terrific slideshow of our baby''s photos to the song Lovely Day by Bill Withers. It''s sweet, not super sappy and very appropriate, I think! I''m interested in what others will come up with too since we''re ready to make another slideshow--waaaaay too many pictures for a 4 month old!!

Okay, I''m on track with the sappy stuff. These are all Bing Crosby. (I love him!)

Only Forever
I Love You
I''ll Be Seeing You
Oh What a Beautiful Morning

I don''t know if I can post lyrics here, but I''m sure you can find them online.

Good Luck

Gershwin has really great lovey, sweet songs, too. I can''t think of any off the top of my head that would suit this particular need, but you may want to take a peak at some of the lyrics.

I like
Israel Kamakawiwo''ole Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What A Wonderful World

You know...I think it may depend on your age. She isn't going to relate...at this date with a song. But the viewers will.

I love all the suggestions and add a few...

Rod Stewart.....Forever Young
Who is that country singer...I hope you dance?
Oh who is the voice of Peppie LaPew....Maurice Chevalier...anyway he sings Thank Heaven for Little Girls.
Bing Crosby has something... about flying a kite
Stevie Wonder.... Isn't she Lovely

Wish I had more...gotta bake Mr DKS a dessert. Signing off.

DKS

Darn it...just remembered Julie Andrews song...it really isn't about little girls...but "Wiskers on kittens...."

"I Hope You Dance" is by Leann Womack.
"My Favorite Things" is Julie Andrews from THe Sound of Music.

Ooohh I had forgotten about the Leeanne Womack song....what do you think also about Billy Joel, "She''s got a way"? Is it too romantic-ish?

Just chiming in with what I did for my daughter''s 16th --I did a powerpoint presentation for a family reunion/bday party and as the pictures were rolling by, my husband played the guitar and I sang (oh help, I can''t remember the name of it) the song "Turn Around" (I think that might be the name)...it goes, Where are you going, my little one, little one, where are you going, my baby my own, turn around and your 1, turn around and your (something), turn around and you''re ...with babes of your own...Something like that. I know I sound so airheaded here, but that was 3 years ago. Wish I could remember! It was so beautiful...I get choked up thinking about it now...

I googled and found the lyrics...so sweet...

Where are you going, my little one, little one,
Where are you going, my baby, my own?
Turn around and you''re two,
turn around and you''re four,
Turn around, you''re a young girl going out of my door.
Turn around, turn around,
Turn around, you''re a young girl going out of my door.

Where are you going, my little one, little one?
Dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you''re tiny,
turn around and you''re grown,
Turn around, you''re a young wife
with babes of your own.
Turn around, turn around,
Turn around, you''re a young wife
with babes of your own.

Where are you going, my little one, little one,
Where are you going, my darling, my own?
Turn around and you''re two,
turn around and you''re four,
Turn around, you''re a young boy going out of my door.
Turn around, turn around,
Turn around, you''re a young boy going out of my door.

---MALVINA REYNOLDS, HARRY BELAFONTE, ALAN GREENE

Help me...Ronnie and the Rondelles..."Baby my darlin..."

Can''t think of the name of the song...but I can sign you a few bars.

Trust me...you don''t want that.

just an idea try going on youtube & searching 1st birthday montage. There are tons with all different artists/songs.

justjulia: I thought about "Turnaround", but my MIL used it when she made a slide show for our wedding...too bad, though, ''cause that would be perfect!

DKS: "Be My Baby" is a great idea! And I''m sure you could sing it just "loverly"!

Vegas: Actually, I looked on Youtube for ideas last night and found a couple more options:

In My Daughter''s Eyes by Martina McBride

Miracle by Celine Dion (although I am not usually a big Celine fan, this song would be nice for the purpose...)

Thanks everyone for your great ideas!

Oh good I''m glad you found some more.

What a fun project. I thought of another one..that I also merged in after turnaround...it''s "Happy Birthday Baby" or something like that. I can''t think of the title!
