Last was our first night that our 21month old daughter slept overnight with the grandparents. We went and had a great New Year's Eve party! One would think that I could sleep in!!! Nope- body clock has me up at 530am in anticipation of our daughter calling us!!! Oh well. What better time to check out new posts on pricescope!!!

Hoping that everyone has a great New Year!

May every one celebrate and embrace each and every new challenge with as much vigor as they did when they were toddlers!!!

Stay safe and enjoy celebrations!!!!

Happy new year Greg! Hope that 2013 brings you all you hoped for and more!

Thanks!!!! There are now a few projects in the pipeline... Heeheehee!!! Just gotta budget for it all...sadly, I want it NOW!!! Good things come to those who wait, right??? Patience is a virtue!! Uh- any more cliches anyone else wanna add!?

Greg, I remember seeing your profile picture before with a baby in it, but I was thinking it was from an American TV show (I almost never watch TV so I can't even name the show!). Is your little girl adopted? I only ask because our last child was adopted from China.

No party for us this year! I am happy staying in my warm house with a nice glass of wine!

Happy New Year, Greg!

HI DS,

Thank you for the lovely thought that it was from an American TV Show... We will take that and definitely tell that to all!!!!!! :D :D
Yes, that was a pic/ story of our family for the local paper. It was for the Father's day edition. We celebrate it on the first w/end in September.

Our daughter was born through a process called surrogacy in the Salem OR. We were there at birth. It was just sooooo amazing to be present for the birth and sooo much more amazing now. Just a bomb! We love her to bits!!!!

I do recall you mentioning your daughter is adopted from China in another post. How old is she now? you have 2 older kids, right? Sorry for all the questions....

Oh---- have you got the video from GOG, yet? i am still waiting!!! :cheeky: :cheeky: made any decisions yet or waiting till after the NY?

Edited: Happy New Year!!!

Greg!!!! Wow, that was really you!!! I would have looked more closely!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: So very happy for you and your family!!! Receiving a child has to be about the most amazing experience in life as far as I am concerned, regardless of the way the child comes!

Yes, we have 3 kids...30, 27, and 17 (the one from China). (That makes me probably old enough to be your mother! I don't like thinking about that because you really don't age so much in your brain, just on the outside!)

Gosh, did you not get to see the asscher video??? I will post it right here! (Edited: Yes, this is the one you already saw!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7SBfNGxTFE&list=UUEV7slr-i-VduBBnfv9MxhA

I have the H VVS1 (second stone from the left) on hold and my ring is on the way to GOG to be sure the stone will fit properly! So we'll see!

Woohoo! Enjoy it!

DS- i started late in having our family, cos not a lot of guys want to have a family. But, I would not have change the journey that i went on to meet my DH and now beautiful daughter!

I remember the video from GOG (but i think your link above was for JA site). Jon had 4 in that video, but i thought he got another video so that you can compare the H and I??? Fingers crossed that the fitting is just perfect!!! PS dust your way!!! Cant wait for the update. :appl: :appl:
Oh- you might have read that i am meeting up with Poppy soon. Whilst i think (maybe agree a little) that the higher colour of OEC for that size diamond (0.5ish) for my project would be the better choice, i just sooooo looooouuurrveee the warmer colours....just torn!!! i think 0.7-0.8 would be the most i would go o'wise its going to look too big!!!!!!

Sorry for cross posting!

edited to take out previous quotes, the msg got too long.

Duh!!! I can't believe I did that!!!! :twirl: (You already saw it but I will post the right link up there if it will still let me edit!)

Okay, I totally forgot about the discussion about a second video but I remember now. I told Jon that I decided on the H just because it was the best stone of the 4 overall. They were SO busy right before Christmas, and I only wanted to see the color in daylight because I was tempted by the I color because of the lower price! The cut was better on the H, so I decided over the long haul, I would have regrets not going with the best one. Had the I color one had the same cut as the H, I would have probably taken it instead as I don't really think I could see the difference in an asscher. The G color one just might fit my setting better due to smaller corners, but it was even more than the H and not quite as perfectly cut. So I'll be interested to see what Jon thinks. Thanks for asking!!!

As far as your OEC goes, I really like all colors depending on the setting chosen. I just need a whiter e-ring stone due to the fact that my diamond bands have higher colors and I want to be able to use them. I just think with an OEC you have to find the best combination of cut, color, clarity in the size you want!

I have seen a few on ebay that are in a setting that i like- art deco/ vintage settings with filigree(?), some with just the band. But being an Asian guy, my finger size is small and it is going to be a pinkie ring; so even smaller!

I have asked one vendor to see if they can resize a 10 to a 6 and he said yes. He has a 30+yr exp jeweller on site to help with that- sweet!! then there are vendors that do not offer the resizing. Will keep watching these ebay items, until i meet up with Poppy, and Ginger of course, who will show me some places to go window shopping- yay yay yay!!!!!

THere is one that i am interested in,but it is a size 9 3/4 and they dont offer a resizing. So, i am concerned that the local jeweller here will not be able to resize something this big. I dont want to purchase something and then have to return it. Maybe when the stores open tomorrow i will show him the pic of the ring to see if they can resize it before i put bid.

I would be very, very hesitant about sizing a ring from 10 to 6 unless it is a very plain shanked ring. A seller may be overly optimistic about sizing to make the sale, but I know of instances here of people finding settings that were too large and other jewelers advised against it. Can you post a picture of the ring?

This has a small culet. What gets me is the colour- champagne... i didnt think i woudl like coloured diamonds, but this one just got me...setting and an OEC.. 0.8ct
currently a size 9.75
need size 6

heading out now to pick up our daughter now.
will be interested to know your thoughts.
edited: size changes required.

Happy New Year Greg!!!! I'm so glad you had an awesome time!

I absolutely LOVE that ring!!!! Maybe post it on Rocky Talky and ask for jewelers and appraisers to advise you whether they think that size change would work. I am hoping it will because I love that color diamond in that setting with the yg band!!!! :appl:

And honestly, if they say it can't be sized satisfactorily, I would have one made exactly like it if I were you! That is one of my favorite men's rings EVER!
