Okay, I got this info off a website from an untrusted jeweler. I find it hard to believe that they list VS as SUPERIOR and S12 as PREMIUM!!!!!!!!! They don''t even list VVS, then that should be SUPER SUPERIOR!!!! A typical consumer might not even know VVS exists or the color range D-F if G-H is SUPERIOR!!!!!!!!

Superior
Clarity Color
VS G-H
Very Slightly Included
Minor inclusions under magnification Near colorless

Premium
Clarity Color
SI2 G-H
Slightly Included
Noticeable inclusions under magnification Near colorless

Select
Clarity Color
I G-H
Included
Obvious inclusions under magnification Near colorless

Affordable
Clarity Color
I3 I-J
Included
Obvious inclusions without magnification Slight tint

All Princess, Marquise, and Baguettes in our mounted merchandise as follows:

Superior
Clarity Color
VS2-SI1 G-H
Very Slightly Included
Minor inclusions under magnification Near colorless

Select
Clarity Color
SI2-I1 J-K
Slightly Included-Included
Noticeable inclusions under magnification Slight tint

Does anyone else find this sketchy???????????

Untrusted Jeweler, I am not sure what advice you are looking for in posting this thread. Do you want reassurance that the obvious to you is obvious to us all.

Look Like BullSh*t to me. Hmmm....Superior, Premium, Select, Affordable...Sounds a little like bogus marketing..
Red flags would go up with me for sure....

This poor guy is not selling to the Pricescope graduate. He is looking for the uninformed little fish swimming around looking for an "Affordable" diamond.
The sad part is, some of those little fish will get hooked.

In my opinion, the jeweler shouldn't list the categories at all because a poor fish will think they have a SUPERIOR diamond and a very included diamond is PREMIUM!!! Not good marketing in my opinion.

In shopping for a diamond solitaire pendant, I saw quite a bit of this type of hype. You could buy base, or upgade the diamond "quality" by 1 or 2 levels. All the listings were rather vague like your post noted. Standard would be I/J, SI2/I1-2, and the upgrades would be as high as G/H, VS to SI in "quality". Price jumps from grade to grade lead buyers to think that they are buying "the best" by paying a premium for the top "quality" diamond. It is sad, but it seems to work with uneducated buyers.

I am so, so glad I found PS and learned to make an informed buying choice!
