Got my ring yesterday. Sized at 5 1/2 loose. Felt o.k. when I tried it on at the jeweler''s but now I see it''s too loose. It fits my right hand perfectly- but my left hand seems to have a particular problem. I wore my wedding band for about 20 years constantly and it was so tight it seems to have caused the underlying fatty tissue to atrophy--i.e. permanent ring indent line. The ring is 1.15 center diamond with two rows of baguettes on each side. My dilemma--
do I size again-or hope that the indenture eventually goes away (it''s been about two weeks since the old ring comes off). I don''t want to lose this ring. Any advice?

I really can't comment on your finger

. . . Exactly how loose is it? Does the ring stop once it gets over your "indenture"? Does it fall to your knuckle?

One thing to remember is that fingers swell in the summer, so a ring that might be a little loose now might be a little tight then. If the ring seems in danger of slipping off, then you probably want to get it resized. If it's just a little loose, you might want to see what happens once it gets warmer before making a decision.

He he, that sounds like ome great ring!

You are talking about a slight difference, right? Does the ring slip away if you shake the hand (pointing down on top of something soft)? If it does, you are risking to loose it and the difference is more thna a full size, if not it could be a little as 1/4 and nothing worse will happen than having the ring non-tight on the finger.

The right hand is bigger than the left (the reverse true for lefties) and the difference can be quite signifficant - mine is about 1.5 ring sizes. Also, the average ring size will differ from winter to summer, as you surely know. Given this, if you want to adjust to the last 1/4 of a size it is important to decise on a particular finger and size accordingly.

The mark of the old ring may not go away too soon. I cannot speak of my own experinece here, but it took more than 1 month for my mother's ring mark to vanish after a couple of decades of ring wearing. She got her new ring in the same size as the old, so I am not sure how much of a difference this detail made.

Conclusion? Rings take getting used to. It sounds like your ring is not easy to size (you mention some baguettes), so I would not rush. Wel, I am not wearing that ring, am I
