Hi Everyone,

I need to have my WF ring resized and don''t want to have to send it all the way back to them, so I went to a local jewelry store today that I have been to before. He tightened my stone for me since it was loose and I asked about sizing it and he said he would do it for me whenever I was ready to part with it for a day. I inquired to make sure he would be taking the stones out to size the platinum and he said no, there are ways to protect the diamonds while sizing so no need to take them out for such a routine fix. Does this sound right guys? I was under the impression that the diamonds had to come out due to the extreme heat it takes to melt the platinum. Anyone want to chime in here? Thanks!

Hi,

If the diamond(s) are in crown(s) or prongs, it will be fine as the bulk of heat will be dissipated and not reach the top part of the ring.

It is more of a concern in diamond bands with numerous diamonds set deep into the metal, eg. eternity bands.

Hi,

Nice pics!

No problem sizing that for a qualified benchperson.
