The wedding set mounting arrived today, and my boyfriend asked me to look at the e-ring and wedding ring because I was initially worried about the thickness of the bands. They are beyond gorgeous and perfect, I absolutely looooooooooove them! However, they feel quite loose on me. Right now they are a 5.25, and I''m thinking a 4.75 might be better for me. What is the best way to get them sized? I''m guessing Signed Pieces would probably do it for free (although it was technically my mistake for asking for the wrong size), but that would require paying a sizeable shipping and insurance fee both ways. Besides that option, there are two more:

1) Finding a reliable local jeweler to size them. I''m not sure how much this would cost, but at least they would be able to measure my hand to determine the correct size.

2) Asking Whiteflash to size the ring when they set the center stone.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Yikes, the dreaded SIZING dilemma! After all the agony and angst we put into so carefully researching and finally choosing our settings, then something that should be *EASY* like sizing comes up! DANG! So just when you think you have MADE ALL YOUR RING DECISIONS, OH NO! There is still one more!!!

Having had sizing issues myself

, I understand how you feel.

I can't remember what you finally settled on - is it eternity style? Because unfortunately, that is usually considered unsizable.

But, if not, then sizing is usually not a BIG problem... although it can be tricky. I wonder if you really need your rings downsized a whole half size, though? I would carefully double-check that. A size 5 is loose on me, but a 4.75 is perfect. A 4.5 would be too tight. I have learned that there is a lot more difference in a quarter size than I ever realized!

Then there is also the winter/summer problem... lots of people's fingers swell in the heat, likewise fingers can be smaller in the cold winter months. That's not even addressing daily body fluctuations like occasional water retention, etc. And of course there's also the the normal size variance in most people's fingers - for instance, large knuckles! OY, it's a wonder any of us can ever comfortably wear our rings on any kind of a regular basis!!! haha!

ETA: Oh, I got off on a tangent and didn't really answer your question -- sorry! I think asking WF to do the sizing when they set the stone is a very good idea! They'll do a great job.

Lynn, it''s 3/4 eternity luckily. I''m so glad I went with that! You''re right, 5 might be perfect. I chose the ring size based on the only other ring I own which was size 5.5 and very slightly large on my left hand.

I honestly think you should 1) go get sized by more than 1 local jeweler. Don''t bring your rings, just go get sized. THEN I suggest you send them back to the maker, NOT to a different jeweler to get the sizing done. Don''t make it someone else''s problem if something goes wrong.

i agree..you might see if SP has a sizer they send out. Many differ slightly and could be just enough off to make the rings feel too loose or tight. I had a ring that was supposed to be a 3.75 end up measuring a 3.5 at another jeweler, that 1/4 of a size can make a huge difference.

I second the advice given above. Find out what your size is, then let Facets resize it.

I mistakenly had Facets size my eternity (full) bands a size 5 1/8, and you guessed it, they were too big. I returned them and they put in sizing balls at my request Not a problem with them, and very fast turn around.

Ann, do you happen to remember how much shipping and insurance ran? Thanks!

Have you gotten really hot and then tried them on? I was freezing the other day and was able to get on a size 51/4 of my mothers, and two hours later (after exercising) my hand was warm and I could barely get my size six on the same finger. I would definitely try them on in different temperatures and whatnot before getting them sized. I cannot wait to see your stone set in your new rings!

Sorry, no I do not remember, it was around the Christmas madness. Maybe between $30.00 - $60.00 ?

Not a lot of $$ to get something correct. I wanted Facets to work on their own creation.

Mat - I am the same way. Depending on the weather (heck, even the day of the week!) my fingers can vary almost 3/4 of a size.

Send them back to Signed Pieces to let them size them. When I returned my eternity band a few months ago I paid $60 for Fed Ex overnight.

I went to a B&M store today and they told me that the ring was actually a size 5 and I'm a 4.5. It was pretty cold out though, so I think I'm going to have them size it a 4.75. By the way, does anyone know if SP will do it for free? My boyfriend will call them on Monday, but perhaps someone on here knows their policies. If not, approx what will they charge us per ring? Thanks!

if they truly made it in the wrong size i''m sure they would correct it for free. Can you take it to another jeweler to check the size somewhere else? Otherwise, there is probably a small fee, i''d give SP''s a call and ask them

Just an update to the situation: my boyfriend mailed back the ring today, and they''re resizing it for free! Yay for Signed Pieces and 3/4 eternity bands.
