It has been a while since I have posted but I have been waiting patiently for the ring of my dreams! Anyway, BF and I were talking last night and out of the blue he goes, you are a ring size 5 1/4 right? We have tried rings on many times and sometimes I was told I was a 5 1/2, but sometimes a 6. However, I tried on the exact ring by the designer I am hoping for in a 5 and it fit just fine, a few hours after I got off an airplane too!! I have big knuckes so no matter what once the ring gets over that part it is a little loose. I thought we decided on a 5 1/2 just to be safe but I am afraid it may be too late to change anything....

Anyway, the question is... if he gives me the 5 1/4 am I going to be unable to get it on??? How much difference is there really between a 5 1/2 and 5 1/4??

Wish I could help you , but I am not sure. Before I bought my gf her ring we went to a jewelry store and got her size. It was 6 1/4. So I got that size.

All sizers are a bit different, so I would make sure to get the exact size she wore IN THAT BRAND.

Hi,

I''d go and retry on that ring and double check! I have big knuckles too and my eng. ring is loose on my finger, but when combined with my wedding band, they fit snug. You may even want to try a wedding band along side the eng. ring to see how they fit together.

Thanks for the input. I guess I feel kinda crazy since we are talking millimeters but I just wanted to make sure. Neatfreak, you are right. Better to go with the size made by the actual jeweler than those sizers at the stores. They are thicker than the band we were aiming for anyway!

Remember, the thinner the band the smaller the size you need. I''m a 6 1/2 in average thickness bands and a 6--6 1/4 in thin bands. Some thick bands I have to go up to a 7 in...don''t like those, my fingers look like sausages!

Now I am worried that the ring I bought won''t be the right size.......... It''s a tacori pave, so the thought if getting it resized scares me!

There are alternatives to resizing if the ring is too big. She can have a horseshoe insert added or sizing beads. I myself would go with sizing beads because they can easily be removed if my fingers ended up larger down the road. I don''t know what affect removing a horseshoe sizer would have on the integrity of the setting. Maybe an expert could weigh in?

I guess it is better to error on the side of too big vs. too small. The reason I was so worried is because it is a ring with micropave all the way around and cannot be sized easily!!!

Yes, you do have to think very hard about getting pave all the way around because most people have some change in size over a lifetime. I''d be sure they are leaving an area for sizing.

My old rings are 5 1/4 but they were a little snug so I got my new rings in 5 1/2. You should be able to wear both, but I''d rather have mine a quarter size too big than a quarter size too small.
