Mega apologies, have had no internet since Wednesday morning and just got it back - I will spare you the 'I hate BT' rant...

Okay, go to Boutique 36, Hatton Garden. Go right to the very back to a place called 'Vision of Diamonds' and ask to speak to Frankie and say that Anthony recommended him (Anthony is my friend). I haven't met Frankie myself but have heard good things about him and another PSer went there on my recommendation for an appraisal and was very happy.

Always fun to look around there - just ignore the pushy ones. I like the indoor market type places with lots of units doing coloured stones. Some have crap but others have incredible stones.

Definitely ask for him - he knows you might drop by. He's young and if he's a friend of Anthony's I'm certain he'll be really nice.

I'm with Fast who are great but we live at the end of the local BT exchange and so the service from them is crap. So bad in fact that we moved to using our ISP's own equipment at the exchange. BT totally screwed up the move to that and connected us to a call-centre in Karachi so we had 48 hours of fun calls from all over the world that I couldn't really help with! Got that sorted and had super-fast internet for first time ever. Then zilch. BT engineer came out today and worked out fault not at my end (duh) and then found that they had unplugged our internet access at the exchange! I had 'words' and they are apparently 'not going to do it again' aka 'next week will be okay but after that...'

Him being nice is actually what I'm afraid of I have this weird need to please when people are nice and I'm afraid I'll feel kind of obligated to buy from them if they are. I'm not saying he would expect me to buy it; I'm just saying I would feel bad if they were nice and I didn't buy.

As far as internet's concerned, we've had crappy service for two months now. We're paying for 20mbps and we get about 7, at best. Some times it just drops, others it's less than one mbps. Virgin's explanation: high usage in the area!

Oh don't worry I'm exactly the same on feeling that I should buy from someone because they are nice. If it makes you feel better, I may well be giving him quite a bit of work in the next couple of weeks so don't worry about saying no!

Also, it's not like anyone is going out of their way for you - they are at work and you're just dropping by to see what they have!

No-one gets 20Mbs - they advertise the highest capablity but most people seem to get 7 at best... I think they've now got to advert!ise averages as so many people as so annoyed about it

Do you by any chance know their opening hours? I looked at their website but couldn't find them. I've already made arrangements to meet up with a friend who's in the UK for one day for lunch and won't make it to HG until 2ish or so. I hope they don't close early on Saturday.

Well, I had a hard time making it to Hatton Garden today. As we were driving into London, the police pulled us over as one of our tyres was completely flat. FI had to put the spare in right in the middle of the road. That took about 45 mins, then we were late meeting my friend as a consequence we were late getting into Hatton Garden. We made it there about an hour before closing time. I did manage to go to Vision of Diamonds but I chickened out and didn't say who I was. They were very nice, though, showed me some nice pieces, and we were even able to look at some bands for FI. So far they are the only store that has rings in a Y size! Nowhere else has he been able to try anything on.

Anyway, thanks for the recommendation Pandora. I'm starting a thread in SMTB asking for opinions so do drop by and let me know what you think.

Glad you got to go to VoD - I'm meeting them tomorrow pm myself...

I've heard they're really nice so glad you think so too. Wow, a Y size - I can imagine not too many places keep those! If you do decide to buy something from them then do mention who you are as they'll do you a good price!
