My boyfriends wants this Zales ring. It looks lovely on his hand. We have found it in a pawn shop for $1,000 less than the sales price but it is a size 11. This ring is two-tone 10K gold and hollow on the inside.

My question is: Can this ring be sized up to a size 13?

Hi Trasid,
I think I have come across a few of these...
If the ring is hollow where you size it I would pass. The ring could kink or crack when bent... heat would soften it (anneal).

Frankly, If this is the ring I think it is I would pass even if it fit. (The photo you supplied shows the poor workmanship on the prongs) Its one of those rings I would pass on for any type of repair (if brought to me to tighten stoneS or whatever) because of all kinds of durability problems that hinge on it being impossibly hollow.
Sorry, but this ring will really haunt you....

I had the same thoughts as Jim but was hesitant to respond because there are people with much more experience than me with these types of things. I took a quick look around to see if I could find a similar style for you at a comparable price but the few places I searched didn't have anything quite right. This is one that I thought was sort of close, but with much better quality.

James Allen is now doing custom work, if you were interested you might want to contact them with the photo of the ring and see what they could do for you, mention your budget and that you are a pricescope member. IDJ is another vendor that you may want to contact. IMO you will get a much better quality product, both in terms of metal and stones and will be able to enjoy the ring for many many years to come without the frustration and headache that Jim alluded to in his post.

My hubby has a ring similar to this one, it was bought at JB Robinson many years ago and he hates it...I assume since its hollow it has the small holes in the band, hubby said water would get trapped in the holes and irate his finger and he hit it one day on something and now it has a dent in it that cant be fixed....I say listen to the good people on here and go with something else that is not hollow.

PS we never tried to have the ring sized and hubby doenst ever wear this ring anymore only we he gets dressed up...most the time he wears a tungsten ring.

Thank you so much Jim, Christina and Diamond. Pricescope is a great place to get good, honest, experienced answers. We will be going to New York in 2 weeks. We will take pictures with us and maybe we can find someone there to make us a ring and with better quality diamonds too. ;)
