Hi- My boyfriend and I have been looking at e-rings. I know that my dream ring would be 1 carat but that is not in the budget right now. We have seen diamonds that we could afford in .8-.0 carats. He thinks we should go with a better cut, color and clarity with a .8... my question is how big of difference to the naked eye is a .8 to a .9 or 1 carat? Is it a huge difference or when people look not really going to notice? My ring size is 6.75.

Thanks for your help!

It all depends on how large they face up for their carat weight. A .85 and .90 stone might look exactly the same looking at it face up because they have similar diameter measurements. In my experience, to my unaided eye, there is not much difference between a .80 stone and a .90 stone or a .90 and 1 carat. However, there is a visible difference between .80 and 1 carat. Keep in mind that a superior cut helps to make the stone more sparkly and appear larger. If you post your budget and what specs you want, I'm sure the diamond experts here will help you find the biggest bang for your buck!
