Hi Everyone,
I know this can be based on a a number of things, but do some shapes of stones appear bigger than other stones with the same carat weight? Specifically an ascher compared to a cushion cut stone?
i am not an expert, but in my experience, asschers do look smaller than their weight because they need to be pretty deep to look like a well cut asscher. i have an asscher eternity band in .33 stones, and to me it looks like the stones are about .25. I am in the process of getting a cushion shaped engagement ring now to replace a lost engagement ring, and i have found that how big the cushions look also depends on the depth. Mine is 59.6 deep, which makes the stone look bigger than it is. I read somewher on PS that the depth of a cushions should be somewhere between 58-65. I was shown stones with depths in teh 66-70 range and they did not look as big. Good Luck.
I just have my loose asscher stone right now which is 1.45 carats, and I compared it to my mother''s engagement ring which is .8 round and while mine does look slightly larger, it is a very insignificant amount larger and I thought that was odd. So that''s why I wondered if a cushion would look larger. I''m going to have to do some research!
