Size 3 Halo - What size stone?

For a size 3 ring with a halo, what''s the biggest you would go for the stone size (assuming round). Sometimes if the stone is too big, it really takes away from the beauty of setting and looks a little silly on the finger. Any suggestions? Would a 6.5mm stone be acceptable or too big?

I think that it comes down to individual taste. I tend to like smaller stones and less finger coverage. My largest ring (without a halo, by the way) is a 2ct tourmaline, which I think would work out to 50% finger width coverage.

Try on rings and see what work out for you.

Just to give you a perspective if you've seen my spessartite ring. The stone is 5.02 ct and measures 9.6 x 9.6 mm. With the halo, it almost completely covers the entire finger. My finger size is 4.5 I generally feel more comfortable wearing something around 7 mm to 8 mm.
