I''ve had a sinus infection and bronchitis. I''m done with my antibiotic, but my sinus headache is STILL there. It''s a tiny bit better today, but does anyone know of a way to relieve it? I''m taking mucinex and dayquil since it has tylenol in it already, but I just don''t know what else to do..it hurts so bad. Sorry if I sound like a big whiny baby, I am just tired of waking up to this every day.

Have you ever tried a sinus rinse? They usually help to relieve some of the pressure for me.

Ditto and (sudafed if that is okay with your doctor)?

I agree with Sudafed

Haven''t tried the rinse, sounds interesting! Will have FI pick up some sudafed.

Have you tried a netipot? I''ve been hearing about them a lot lately, but haven''t tried it myself yet. They rinse out your sinuses..probably the same as a ''sinus rinse.''

ayr which is a saline nasal spray should help the sinus passages so hopefully could relieve the headache some. the generic brands sold at walmart and such places are very cheap and seem to work as well.

Excedrin (Not Excedrin sinus - doesn''t work for me.) Just be careful because it has a lot of caffeine in it and can keep you up late.

Feel better soon.

Some OTC stuff - just suggestions

The rinse is a great thing. You can make it at home. 8 oz water (filtered, bottled or boiled tap water), 1/2 teaspoon salt, pinch of baking soda.

Sudafed, I don''t like using this as a long term solution, but it can help. I think of it as a hold over while you and the doctor are trying to figure out a more long term solution. I think that the stuff they sell behind the counter works a lot better, it is worth the hassle of showing your id and stuff

Avoid Afrin, use more than 3-4 days can make things worse

I know that this might sound weird, but daily use of OTC pain meds such as motrin and tylenol can cause a headache. It might be best to stop these meds for a short time and see what happens. Are you still congested or do you just have the headache?

Sleeping upright, and if only one side is congested, sleep with the other side of your head on the pillow.

Stuff from the doctor: You can try nasal steriods, such as flonase/nasonex, they can really help with congestion, and they decrease the swelling in the nose so that your sinuses can drain. They take about a week to work.

Find out if there is something that is making you prone to sinus infections: These are questions for you doctor, not for me, but just something to think about. Do you have allergies that tend to get worse in fall that prone you to infections? Would treating those help? Are you having another type of headache were a different treatment would be better?

Hope you feel better

I have VERY large sinuses, the largest my dentist had every seen on an xray so I share your pain. The saline spray is amazing. You might also try airborne or vitamin C. I find that it decongests me the best and without nasty side effects; I actually think it works better for me than sudafed. Since using sudafed for more than 4 days can actually make it worse (tiny print on the package) you ttake it and switch with airborne back and forth
