I am planning on getting a 3-stone ring w/ .5-.55 as my center and .3ish as my side stones (all round). I am a beginner and kind of confused as far as settings go. For 18k White Gold, is it possible for me to get away with a simple setting that is 700 or less? I have looked on sites like blue nile and whiteflash but all the 3 stone settings seem a good bit over this price range. When I talked to a local jeweler I was given the impression that I would only be spending 500-600 on a setting. Do you think that my expectations are too low (I only want a very simple setting)? This could have a severe effect on my decision about the ring ''cause I am on a pretty tight budget, so I am trying to figure this out before I choose stones. Thanks for any help you can give...

If you are talking about a very simple WG setting without the sidestones, then I think you could get one for under $700. I would give Whiteflash a call and see what their price is, since there are no 3 stones settings with diamonds on their website.

that was the cheapest i could find too....i guess maybe that i will have to dig up some money or change my stones?

I am pretty sure you can get a 3-stone setting for well under 900 dollars.

I have no idea about the company but afer a quick google I found this:

for $466

http://www.primestyle.com/details/ring-8707.html

that price included the diamonds which I am sure are prob awful but goes to show you should be able to get the setting without the stones for even less.

I am guessing around 400 for a quality simple white gold setting seems more reasonable?

If I am wrong please correcting me

Again N0-idea about the company, purely a web based search I found this with settings ranging from 200-650 in white gold at diamonds USA.

They say they usually don''t sell their settings seperately (without there diamonds) but at least it can give you a price point to negotiate when dealling with the jewler of your choice. Or maybe you can negotiate with them to sell you the setting alone and then send it to whoever you are buying your diamonds from.

Hope this helps,

Dave
