Has anybody had any dealings with this designer/manufacturer?

My gf and I were in Nordstrom one Sunday and they were having a trunk show - it was during Nordie''s anniversary sale, so they were giving 25% off the regular retail (whatever that might be!). Anyway, she found a setting she loved and the rep agreed to make some modifications on the side stones (princess to oval) and band (channel set to pave). I told them I''d provide the Centerstone (thank you GOG) and the rep said it''d be about 6 weeks.

Its been about 3 1/2 weeks now, and Nordstrom just called to say they checked and its going to be 5 more weeks.

In addition to the disappointment, I''m wondering if SimonG can perform. Are they having money problems? I checked their website (www.SimonGJewelry.com) and they don''t have their new catalogue posted yet. Nor is their old catalogue available.

Maybe I''m paranoid (OK, I AM paranoid), but over the years, I''ve found that when somebody starts telling you it''ll be a little bit longer than what they first said, it often means they''ve been put on COD only by their suppliers and the don''t have the cash to pay for the materials they need for your order.

So, I''m just wondering if anybody out there has had any dealings with them.

I haven''t had any dealings with them, and I suppose I can see why you are paranoid. But look at it another way...you did ask for modifications in a design, and I''m sure that they want to do excellent work. Would you rather they rushed it and it came out not as nice? Another possibility is that they are really swamped right now, and have more orders to fill than they can keep up with. That scenerio would be a GOOD thing, IMO.

It would mean they do really nice work and are in demand.

I recently ordered a Simon G band (through a jeweler here on PS) and was told it would take 4-6 weeks. It''s only been 2 weeks, so I can''t say anything, as far as how long it took, but I''m sure they are not having money problems. If anything, they are probably TOO busy, and that is why your ring is delayed.

I know it is disappointing, but in the grand scheme of things, 2 extra weeks isn''t that much. At least they notified you NOW, instead of at the end of the 6 weeks.

Simon G is awesome!!! They definitely are not having money issues. Did you look at their 2004 catalog before it was taken off of their site? It was around 185 pages! I think they may still be working on the many pages of their new catalog.

Several people in my family have Simon G pieces. My sister''s ring had a modification which delayed it but I can''t remember for how long.

Don''t worry. It will be gorgeous and worth it
