I love the transition of seasons, and love the transition to Spring especially.
The first sign of Spring in my yard is the skunk cabbage. Despite its unfavorable name, I do adore this little plant because I know Spring is on the way. https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=syfo
I noticed something else this year. I'm sure I've observed this before because it seemed familiar to me, but I don't recall equating it with spring. I have a wonderful older greyhound. Earlier this week, I noticed him lifting his head in the air, sniffing intently while his eyes opened and closed just a little. I realized he must be smelling Spring, the change in the weather and all of the new life that comes with it. I mentioned it to someone at work and he pointed out that dogs take in so much more data than we do through their senses. Made complete sense to me, and such a gorgeous sight seeing my dog perceive the world in such a lovely way.
