Hi! I have read many many posts on the quality and beauty of Signed Pieces eternity bands.
I am considering purchasing a semi mount eternity band from them before years end. I would like to have my 3ct round center stone mounted in this. The eternity band is 2.4mm wide and 1.4 thick. They have the half(.39pt) as well as full (.96pt) eternity mounting. Would a 3ct center be too top heavy for this band, and could a lower style mounting be used instead of the higher one they show? Would the half eternity be a better choice? I have always loved the thin delicate bands with diamonds, which make the center stone stand out. Do people who have the 1/2 eternity band ever see the area without diamonds, if the center turns one way a little, or do you mostly have to look at your palm to know if it is not an eternity? Could a half eternity be sized, if needed? I cannot afford a Ritani, or michael B, at this time, and thought this was equally simple stunning and timeless. Thanks I hope my questions are not confusing!

Here is a link to the setting:

WoW! Gorgeous!!!! So, the large round is three carats, and the eternity bands are they almost one carat each, or more? Do you have any problems with the diamond set high banging around or getting caught? Your set is Drop dead STUNNING!! I bet you that hand gets lots of attention!

Wait a minute... thats a 4 ct round (gulp) isnt it???? Oh My GOD!

It''s looking4carats 3.108 AGS 000 J SI1.

yes, the username is looking4carats and the stone is a little over 3 carats as stretch mentioned. the set they purchased from signed pieces can be found here. ering mounting is approx. .93 carats and the 2 side eternity bands are approx. .97.

you should also read up on Demelza''s posts about her signed pieces mounting. she recently had her new 2.35c stone put into that same setting that looking4carats got. She also had some problems with the settings cutting into each other, I don''t know exactly what the problem was but you may want to do a bit of research on the long-term durability of that setting...with shared prong exposed girdle settings like that, sometimes the stones can rub against each other or metal and compromise the setting over time.

good luck! i think a 3c would be fab in that setting, as looking4carats shows...but just be sure it''s safe for the long-term. otherwise there are similar settings out there that have more ''protection'' or the stones don''t have overhang to rub against each other on the e-ring and w-ring set.

As Mara said, I recently put my new stone in that exact mounting. It's a beautiful set, very sparkly and very well-crafted. The head for my stone is set down into the band and does not stick up very high at all. In order to make the rings sit flush, they often notch out the head at the base of the mounting to allow the band to fit underneath. I was told by my jeweler that this is not a safe practice as it compromises the strength of the prongs. For this reason, I told them to leave my head un-notched. There is only a very little space between the rings. I realize you didn't ask about durability issues, but I would caution that this is probably not the most durable set in the world. As Mara pointed out, damage can result from exposed girdles rubbing against one another. This can cause nicks, chips, or loose stones. I guess what I'm wanting to say is that this set requires a higher level of maintenance than the average wedding set. Having said that, there are a lot of wonderful things about a shared prong setting and Signed Pieces does it better and for less money than anyone else I've seen around. It remains to be seen whether any significant damage will occur, but I've decided just to enjoy them and stop worrying. I do wish, however, that I had been a bit more informed before I decided on this set. Good luck whatever you choose. Can't wait to see pics!!!!!!

Thanks Demelza, and everyone else! Actually I was just going to wear my diamond on the semi mount eternity band alone,(not buying or wearing a set) T.his was a 10 year anniversary gift from my husband. I am so happy to hear that you were are to get it set lower. Did Signed Pieces do this for you?

Regarding the head: I didn''t ask SP to do anything in particular. As far as I know, all of their heads are set down into the base of the ring. I don''t think any of the pictures on the website show peg-heads that sit on top of the mounting. But just to be sure, tell them that you want the diamond to sit as low as possible and see what they say. I am sure they will accomodate your request. Please post pics when it''s done.
